The 30 minute rule screws closers over(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by HiiAlberta
I am a mid or closer, it kinda blows not being able to get coffee in the morning for free when I work later. I dont want to drink a latte at 4 tho
Inside_Drink_396874 points11m ago
I agree, last year there was a covid rule where you could get 1 free drink and 1 free food on days you didn’t work! It was the best!!
monzoink36 points11m ago
That was one of the most unique and best work benefit ever
Aliciarox11189-16 points11m ago
You still can get 7x food a week doesn't matter what day you choose
astivana21 points11m ago
It does have to be marked out when you’re working.
Inside_Drink_39686 points11m ago
I realize that. I just mean when I take my refrigerated food home and then reheat it, it’s not as good as a Starbucks oven
Inside_Drink_39687 points11m ago
I know, but heating my sandwiches up in the microwave doesn’t hit as good as if I went to my store
Mr_SCPF-2 points11m ago
I mean, I don’t think many partners would mind warming them up in the store if you bring them back in the wrapper.
interstatelovesong172 points11m ago
ur not allowed to bring outside food inside the bar/warming area tho
Odd-Seaworthiness54440 points11m ago
If your store is cool, they should give it to you anyway
Zealousideal-Star44821 points11m ago
I think it should be be free all day if you work that day.
Canadiansbux16 points11m ago
I'm at a grocery store kiosk, we get nothing free and only make minimum wage 🤧
bottlehalffull14 points11m ago
Go to a corporate store.
Canadiansbux-3 points11m ago
I heard they won't hire you if you are not from a corporate store. Plus no drive thru, no mobile orders and I never have to clean a bathroom lol
bottlehalffull10 points11m ago
That's certainly not true, half of my baristas came from Albertsons or Target. You might have to work a bit harder but the benefits make it worth it.
jazzysoranio2 points11m ago
I’ve worked with lots of baristas that came to our corporate store from licensed kiosks.
insertusernameplease3 points11m ago
Not true at all, I worked at a Kroger Starbucks for a year in 2011 and I just started at a corporate store and my manager said my 1 year of experience there was one of the reasons why I was hired. You’re working with the current knowledge of drinks and standards, they’ll love that.
dayahorne2 points11m ago
Also not worrying about money, if there's an issue it goes straight to the bookkeeper.
urlessies2 points11m ago
one of my coworkers came from a barnes and noble starbucks
discountairpods6 points11m ago
i thought the 30 minute rule was only about AFTER your shift not before
lewabwee10 points11m ago
It is before and after. Some people get there early and get a drink before going on the floor but the 30 minute rule is to cap how early that can happen. Same with after.
starboienby6 points11m ago
we just mark out our drinks at close and then make it before we leave, but our sl are super cool so i’m not sure what it’s like at other stores
lily-amber4 points11m ago
At my store I’ll just mark it out for partners. Idc if you work that day or even if you don’t even work at my store. It’s ridiculous that we could in fact give partners free drinks even on days they don’t work, but now for some reason we can’t.
HiiAlberta [OP]2 points11m ago
I mean same but obviously if an asm or shift would not approve is on shift I would not
jazzysoranio3 points11m ago
Do you go to your own store the mornings before you close?
I’m just asking because if I’m closing that day you would never see me visiting earlier in the day just to have to come all the way back later.
greenChainsaws2 points11m ago
maybe our store is just weird but literally all of us can have a couple of shots on close and still be able to sleep
Radioaactive1 points11m ago
That's just because this job is exhausting lol
just_pig3on1 points11m ago
What I like to do when I close is make like a morning espresso drink but put no ice in it. Then I can add ice at home when I want to drink it the next day!
happybowlita831 points11m ago
The 30 min policy screws everyone over... openers can't get anything before their shift at 4am and technically have to wait until their break to get any sort of free coffee or drink in general. A

some people want a latte. morning people can have that before and after their shifts without worrying about what time it is.
EliMinivan1 points11m ago
At least you get something free. I work at a licensed store, we get nothing free. Don't even get partner numbers, just a 5 percent discount. Dosent even usually cover our 25¢ county cup fee
