Advice on conflict? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by reginaldioz
I’m a closer and I’ve recently been scheduled early in the mornings and from my experiences the morning crew really dislikes me lol. They constantly talk shit about the night crew and it’s really hurtful. It’s all very catty and cliquey. Im not sure whether or not I should bring it up with my manager because it’s making me really uncomfortable at work.

It’s definitely a thing at probably every store where morning complains about nights and vice versa. A lot of baristas don’t work both/haven’t worked both so they don’t have an understanding of the Opposite Day part so it’s easy to blame them. If it’s to a point it is making you uncomfortable I’d definitely bring it to your SM.

This happens at my store too! I'll never understand the morning vs night crew war. Talking to my manager about it was really helpful, especially since two workers ended up getting fired for their treatment of other baristas

Morning gets mad at night because closes aren’t perfect.

Mid gets mad a morning because backups aren’t made and dishes and cold brew is left for them.

Close gets mad at mid for further leaving things for them to do. Plus partners start leaving and the crew goes from 6 to 4.

All day parts need to communicate with each other and SM’s and SSV’s need to establish expectations.

I used to work full time as a closer on weekdays and opener on weekends. Now I just open on weekends. A lot of people only do one and can't imagine the other's struggle, so they'll talk shit from time to time. However, if they're being rude to YOU just because you're a closer (or for any reason really) that's totally unnecessary and worth mentioning if you trust your manager!
