Water bottle on the floor? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LocationRoutine
Are you guys allowed to have a water bottle on the floor? My store says no but I’m wondering if it’s really policy to not allow water when we’re working

It's basic retailer/food service policy, idk if it's in wording somewhere but probably. Bosses are convinced it makes ppl look unprofessional and when I interviewed at target they told me I needed a doctors note to have my water at front. Keep a water bottle somewhere inconvenient and ask for a lot of water breaks and they'll probably make an exception and let you put it somewhere convenient but no garuntee. I'm still p new to sbux specifically but it's worked at other jobs.

The guidelines for this are mentioned in the Food Safety Manual which you can find in your store iPad, but I can't recall any specific details right now

You are not allowed to have drinks of any kind on the floor; it’s a food safety issue, so you’re not allowed to eat or drink on the floor. There should be a partner drink shelf or another designated spot in back for you to keep drinks and water, and you should be able to get a drink throughout your shift pretty much whenever as long as you’re not disrupting business in doing so.

Absolutely not, it's a health code violation.

You aren't allowed to drink on the floor, but there is usually a partner drink shelf in the back where you can put your drink on and come back to drink whenever.
