“But the other barista did it for me yesterday!”(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Zealousideal-Star448
No Jake. They did not. They didn’t switch the ham to bacon in the ham and cheese croissant for you yesterday. No they didn’t even attempt to do it without charging you for the bacon Gouda or double smoked. No I’m not gonna do it just this once. No I’m not going to warm your lemon loaf, I don’t care if some barista somewhere else wanted to cosplay Zuko; I don’t. No I’m not allowed to put the vanilla scone in the oven; why? because I don’t want Starbucks DIY tattoos.
I was on warming for barely an hour today… are customers just not considerate of my well being today?
lilleniouo195 points11m ago
"I DON'T CARE IF SOME BARISTA SOMEWHERE ELSE WANTED TO COSPLAY ZUKO" I'M LITERALLY CRYING 😂😂
Assiqtaq94 points11m ago
"Yes I understand that Trish warmed the lemon loaf for you yesterday. She wasn't supposed to do that because it is dangerous and SB doesn't want to pay for the hospital bills if I have to go to the hospital for burns, so I won't be warming it for you today."
Edit to add, I have a small burn scar on my hand from warming a chocolate croissant and having a small piece of chocolate fall off onto my hand. That was with something we are *supposed* to warm. I don't warm things that are not supposed to be warmed.

I have a ton of burn scars all over my arm from grease splatters when on warming. Starbucks has no business serving the amount of food we do with such shit tools.
Charimia10 points11m ago
We had a lady ask for sausage egg and cheddar with the sausage warmed separately, and that is how I have a lovely oil burn tattoo up my left hand and arm.
I didn’t know at the time, but never again.

One of my first solo shifts after training a tiny speck of melted cheese fell on my hand. I went to lick it off instinctively but I had my mask so it sat there a cool sec. Fun times
frannyyyy_035 points11m ago
didnt know that i can actually get burns on warming but behold, the double smoked bacon came to prove me wrong
CatalyticGenesis70 points11m ago
my favorite response to this is to put on my authoritative voice and be like okay, can you tell me who did that for you? that's a serious safety hazard and im going to need to have a talk with them about our policies here.
im at a licensed store so there's no evidence that im *not* actually a manager, which i like using to my advantage. especially with the knowledge that the customer is lying about the "uh the OTHER barista did it for me" thing most of the time.

I mean…it’s hard to tell who the SSV/Manager/Baristas are at sbux. You kind of have to watch the floor to pick it up.
BatWeary7 points11m ago
it took me ages when i first started to figure who the ssvs were vs baristas, lol. i kind of like it that way though
Affectionate_Fart0 points11m ago
I don’t, I feel like It takes 5-10 minutes of people watching before you know…and I’m just not comfortable with that. I wish we had either embroidered aprons that said SSV, or maybe a different color (light green for green beans, darker hunter green for shifts and managers…) but they’d never do that
insertusernameplease2 points11m ago
The first SSV I met has a Coffee Master apron so I was under the impression that all shifts had black aprons and I was soooo confused for a couple days why there was only 1
Vivid-Cheetah-76930 points11m ago
they wouldn’t do this because that gives away who the manager is in the event of an emergency like a robbery or something. they’re the only person that can access the safe so it’s a safety hazatd
luvduvbunny34 points11m ago
1. It’s a ham wrapped in a croissant. No one will ever unwrap the croissant just to replace ham
2. Iced lemon loaf in the oven is a major safety hazard. No one (at least normal baristas) won’t ever put one in the oven
3. Same with vanilla scone
If someone want to warm up the iced pastries, they can buy one and warm them up at home
vkapadia10 points11m ago
I've brought an icee lemon loaf to my office before, I don't see anything wrong with that.
luvduvbunny6 points11m ago
Ha! I just caught my typo! Nice catch! I’m glad you were safe when you brought an iced lemon loaf to the office!
FearlessGift7062-1 points11m ago
We warm them up at my store 😭😭
vareenoo2 points11m ago
That’s literally a fire hazard
FearlessGift70622 points11m ago
But now that I know this I’m never letting warm a loaf again as long as I work here
FearlessGift70621 points11m ago
I literally didn’t know until today
broookeee_19 points11m ago
omg . this except whenever we get seasonal items early and one of my coworkers makes it for a customer and they say ‘huh weird they made me one the other day’ WHEN THERE ISNT EVEN A BACK UP IN OUR FRIDGE OR WITH US ON BAR LIKE! DONT DO THAT PLEASE! like yeah thats great they did that but i’m not gonna do it for you so <33
ontether14 points11m ago
As though that statement has ever convinced anyone to do anything in the history of time
vkapadia10 points11m ago
Too bad their scar was on the wrong side.
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]10 points11m ago
Todoroki has way to much trauma for lemon loaf arguments
reddituser02266 points11m ago
Last week a lady told me at her usual sbux store they will take bacon from the gouda sandwich and place it in a butter croissant cut in half (also she said they didnt charge her for both sandwich and croissant) …. Hmmmm naahh I dont think we can do that and just charge for one or the other
Necessary_Low9394 points11m ago
Starbucks diy tattoos 👀
Why do people lie like that? Especially about the sandwiches like bro.
As for the pastries, I just say we can’t warm anything with icing, it melts and burns us anddddddd u will be left with no icing etc anyway.
dayahorne3 points11m ago
Can you take the cheese off of my sausage and cheddar, sure no problem.
Can you take the tomatoes out of the spinach and feta wrap. Like ma'am no.
And then like a month or so later, I opened the store and this lady asked if I could cut her spinach and feta. "The other barista did it for me" no the fuck she did not. All we have are scissors, I couldn't cut even if I want to.
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]2 points11m ago
You guys don’t have a bread knife? All the stores I’ve been in have had knifes
dayahorne1 points11m ago
Idk if its because we're a vonsbucks or just licensed in general, but yeah no knives for us.
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]1 points11m ago
Interesting
catbeetle2 points11m ago
I think we have all been victims of the chocolate croissant 🥐
pinkjortz2 points11m ago
I have multiple burn scars on my arms from the stuff we’re SUPPOSED to put in the oven, no way I’m gonna go out on a limb to make someone a drippy glazed donut
IzzyIllustrations1 points11m ago
There's this man who constantly tries to get free drinks by coming in for the first time that day and telling the cashier he wants a refill. He got away with it for a while but now we literally have to make him bring his sticker from that day up, because he will literally bring in old cups 🙄
Now since we're onto his con he orders a black coffee but doesn't say iced until after he's rung out, so it's like a dollar cheaper 😮💨
Zealousideal-Star448 [OP]3 points11m ago
Oh if he keeps doing that I’d do a refund return and recharge him! Once I understand but if it’s a repeat
IzzyIllustrations2 points11m ago
It's just annoying because he'll do it to partners who don't know about him yet. He's a really sneaky guy. I don't get why we don't just ban him at this point. 🙄 or at least ban him from refills lol
