Chai Latte Help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by saltylemon04
I thought I saw my store lead put a shot of espresso in a chai latte but later she told me we don't put it in, what's the standard recipe? Also is an iced chai just chai syrup, milk, & ice?

A chai with espresso in it is known as a “dirty chai”. It’s possible someone ordered that. It’s not a drink on our menu, but it’s a common coffeehouse type of drink.

A hot chai is chai, water, and milk. An iced chai is just chai, milk, and ice. The ice is the water in that case.

Is there a standard number of shots for each size of dirty chai?

I think it's best practice to ask how many shots they would like just so everyone is on the same page

Fun fact: Iced Lattes w/ Chai are usually cheaper than Iced Dirty Chais (you'll have to check with the prices in your area)

Chai is just chai pumps (depends on size) and then milk (if iced) and half hot water half milk (if hot). No espresso. If your store lead added espresso it's probs cause it was ordered with espresso (or it was their own drink and they wanted espresso because I add shots to mine when I order chai).

But standard is no shots :)
