See I didn't care for it. The coffee tasted off to me and imo our chai tastes better.
SusieSlaughter 13 points 11m ago
I think DB uses “oregon chai”which just tastes watered down to me. I’ve gotten flavored lattes and the espresso is too bitter tasting for my liking.
pinkshadedgirafe 5 points 11m ago
Yep! They use Oregon Chai, and use very little at that. I've tried the chai from 3 different locations and it's only ever ice and milk. Their lattes taste like sweetened milk - can barely discern any flavor
Key-Ferret4077 2 points 11m ago
It did taste very watery. Glad I'm not the only one that noticed.
GreenTourmaline13 1 points 11m ago
I wasn't fussed with the coffee, either. It was very meh.

Dutch bros is even farther from coffee than Starbucks. I hear their juice stuff is good but their coffee based drinks are gross. So sugary/fatty
cats_with_tentacles 4 points 11m ago
Exactly, I'm not sure they brew anything. Maybe drip? Do they have drip??
vanbibs22 4 points 11m ago
They don't have drip lol
SafeMetal3619 2 points 11m ago
Same here. I've been disappointed too many times to attempt their teas... Altho I like Sbux coffee, I'm not a fan of our iced teas, too watered down.
HamburgIar_ 11 points 11m ago
Yeah of course. They don't burn their espresso beans
floofxs2 8 points 11m ago
Of course DB is way better and cool stickers but they don’t have many around. It’s also a lot better to work at.
MyLifesParody 7 points 11m ago
Not a fan of Dutch.
chikndinner 5 points 11m ago
i would but they refuse to come to los angeles 😩
ellensaige 4 points 11m ago
I drink rebels (their energy drink) most days! I don't really like coffee so I usually go there for caffeine and Starbucks for lemonade. I wish we had an energy drink that doesn't taste like ass.
Easy_Appointment_828 4 points 11m ago
they have so many more sugar free options which is nice
LovelyLatte 3 points 11m ago
tfw fl doesn’t have it😩
Bright_Earth_8282 3 points 11m ago
Everything I’ve ordered from there is too sweet for my taste. Then again, I find Frappuccino’s too sweet too
Necessary_Low939 3 points 11m ago
There’s none in nyc
Kyde_Drakes 2 points 11m ago
I don’t mind their drinks that aren’t coffee, but the coffee tastes bland. I’m not a big fan of Starbucks coffee either, but I’d rather make coffee at home.
Apprehensive_Pie5605 2 points 11m ago
I feel like all of their coffee drinks are always watered down or just straight sugar. As far as service they’re amazing and so nice, efficient and whatnot but product wise they’re not that good. The teas are sometimes okay I think the Rebels are always spot on but sometimes the regular teas are just water and ice.

I'm not really a fan myself. The espresso is super bitter and they use Torani syrups, so while they have more options (love me some almond/amaretto), it's a cheap syrup that's sweeter with less flavor. Torani syrups are super easy to get too so might as well just make it at home at that point (there are better syrup options though!)

The kids are always super friendly when you order too, which is nice but I don't usually want to deal with a caffeinated teenager first thing in the morning asking about my plans for the day when I haven't had coffee yet 😂

Every now and then I want some of the flavors that starbucks doesn't carry so I'll go to Dutch Bros. I just have to order everything ½ or ¼ sweet

I was a barista at a drive up coffee stand in high school, think 2004-2009. If you're not familiar with the great northwest, or specifically near Portland, Oregon, there's one of those little coffee shacks every few miles. I remember when Dutch Bros popped up in my town as just another one of them... probably around the time bikini baristas became a thing... Off topic, but if you thought customers could be creeps at Starbucks imagine how bad they can be when there's only one person alone in a shack taking their order... and the whole lingerie/bikini barista thing just feeds that. Eww...

Anyway, my opinion on Dutch is that they started small, and simpler, and WAY cheaper... They gained a huge following. And then they turned into a competitor(in the area), so they had to adapt to compete more with Starbucks. Dutch Bros is all over the west coast now. Their menu grew. If you look at the app there's more detailed list of drinks. They have their own app now with points system instead of their original punch cards. And they are more expensive now... although the last time I went home I think I paid less than $15 for 3 drinks with is cheaper than Starbucks would've been.

I do think they have a larger drink flavor selection. But that could be because of all the mom and pop competition around still. I remember going on store runs with my boss, and the restaurant supply store had like a 100 different syrup flavors, all the sauces, smoothie mixes and chocolate we ever needed. And its open to the public, so basically all the local shops had the opportunity to have the same options.

Obviously Starbucks limits its options to keep seasonal things limited and exciting... and could you imagine tik tok concoctions... Starbucks has more food options. I really liked the structure of Starbucks training. At 15 in a shack by myself I had to learn to be efficient when I had lines of cars on both sides. I imagine Dutch training has evolved nowadays, but started out the same way. I was pleasantly pleased during my Starbucks training that efficiency was trained in the form of sequencing... even tho shaken drinks always fucked up my groove.

I'm in VA now. In the last like 5 years all the Starbucks Cafes have been closed and new drive thru/cafes have popped up. I'm sure that would have happened eventually. But I like to think that they’re worried something like Dutch will pop up an on the East coast.

I know(and hate) that Starbucks is such a money hungry company... I mean, why else would they raise prices with EVERY launch? And yet not pay enough to keep a low turn over rate. I would hate to see Dutch turn into that. Unfortunately every time I go home I notice their lines are longer, and baristas more rushed to finish orders. My mom is a Dutch Bros addict... I mean regular... the kind who knows which baristas make her drinks to her perfect... and which ones don't (😬). She also used to get personalized Holiday gifts for the entire crew. But she stopped cause the turn over has made it so that she doesn't even recognize most of them anymore.

I think they've both gotten away from good espresso beverages. Everything is sugar... but that's what makes money. So when I'm back on the west coast I go with what's cheaper, which is Dutch. If I feel like getting good coffee I'll find a nice mom and pop place.

Lol thanks for listening to my coffee talk. I love the NW, and I love coffee. I could talk about it forever... and this was the opportunity to do just that. So don't mind my 2am ramblings!

Lastly, if you wanna give it a try my Dutch Bro order is a "Not too hot Annihilator, only half the sweetener." That is a chocolate macadamia nut breve.

Their nitro cold brew comes out of a can
cicicockerham 2 points 11m ago
I love it too!!!
butterflymushroom 1 points 11m ago
I don’t like the flavor of their coffee. But I do like the extensive options of flavored syrups for their teas. I like both places on different days!
EliMinivan 1 points 11m ago
Starbucks coffee is a rats ass. Go to a local shop and try some real good coffee. I feel ashamed of what we sell after trying an amazing latte from a local shop that costs less than the Starbucks equivalent.
ashley0927 1 points 11m ago
I don’t like there coffee but I LOVE there teas!!!!
pumpkinbarr 1 points 11m ago
I think there coffee is so gross. :(
heyitsmaria24 1 points 11m ago
