Bone dry cappuccino is so fun to make but venti and oatmilk is kinda rude Todd.
budsandrainbowsss149 points11m ago
The most rude. But barista tip incoming… if you fill the pitcher up with ice and water first and let it sit 10-15 seconds you can get a lot more foam when steaming :)
floofxs238 points11m ago
And now I want an undertow lol 😆
BaristaBabe131 points11m ago
Ooooohhh SAME!! With a half pump of vanilla and oat milk!!
Ok_Customer73962 points10m ago
My go to every morning condensed "BOSE" Undertow 2 pumps Brown Sugar add cinnamon Oatmilk and 4 shots on top Fits in a short cup. Goes down super smooth and I don't have to worry about my drink getting watered down if I get a rush.
szhou0097 points11m ago
No way, gonna try this out
BaristaBabe136 points11m ago
Before Starbucks, I worked at a natural food store. We had a café there, which is where I worked. We kept a bucket of sanitizer right by the espresso machine, and after each drink, we would dip the pitcher in sanitizer, rinse it, then store them in the fridge. Cold pitchers (especially bell shaped ones) are phenomenal for foaming!!
Ok-Start-676827 points11m ago
We got a customer who got an espresso macchiato in a venti cup filled to the top so basically we had to steam 3 pitchers of foam with 2 shots 🙃
aee7841 points11m ago
I'd charge them for a venti cappuccino, because that's what they're getting.
Ok-Start-676820 points11m ago
She does mobiles so I’m not charging her we just know who she is lol
Flat-Whereas307512 points11m ago
I would mark it as unable to be made.
She knows what she’s doing.
When she came I would let her know that espresso macchiatos are in a short cup, And that she will have to pay with foam in the future.
And then I’d tell all my shifts and my managers.
Because they would all look at it and know what’s up.
nateilebode2 points11m ago
I was gonna say how much oat milk do you Waste? (I’m a ex SB employee)
No_Fruit_6188 [OP]144 points11m ago
He also reached way across the counter, and lifted the cup up on the bar and set it back down to feel the weight. While my co worker was making it. Then proceeded to coach him on how to make it and watched him like a zoo animal.
cpv_91144 points11m ago
OH HELL NO! I'm usually able to keep chill with some of our more 'special' customers but this for sure would have made me lose my shit.
1) there is NO reaching across the counter 2) you can 'weigh' in on the final product when I hand it to you 3) if you are such an expert on drink production, by all means make your drink at home, I'm quite busy here and don't need your help. Ok, thanks.
emileeavi63 points11m ago
"Sir if you continue to reach in our station I'll have to ask you to leave" - I said this to a customer once and I had absolutely no permission to say it.. but I did anyways
vertigo00o26 points11m ago
there’s a regular named bill, lemme say he’s about 70-80 years old, who’s a regular at my store and he flirts with the teenage girl minors and has done everything to get within 6 feet of them. it’s absolutely fucking disgusting and he’s asked for my age and when i told him he immediately went up to one of the actual minors. it’s so disgusting and everytime my coworkers and i see him walk up from the parking lot all the uterus owning partners immediately go to the back. usually the male shifts and the male guys stay on the floor when he’s there. it’s literally so gross 🤮
brainiaxx19 points11m ago
Start filing incident reports. Report to HR if manager/shifts/dm don’t let you, enough incidents and you can ban someone. Except for the lady who threatened my shift, she got the cops called on her.
vertigo00o4 points11m ago
….wow i should really look up some things. thank you friend
floofxs228 points11m ago
Nooooooo Todd!!! Once I had a customer grab my milk pitcher off the bar because she wanted more milk (was adding steamed milk to a drip) and i told her of course just a second - she said “i got it” and grabbed the pitcher… I looked at her in amazement and she looked at me and slowly put it down and said “I shouldn’t have done that” I said “no” and we both laughed because she spaced out. But first and only time I had a customer grab off the machine.
lilleniouo18 points11m ago
NOOOOO
aee7816 points11m ago
I would have tossed the cup in the trash. Then gone and washed my hands. "Do it again and you'll be leaving."
Had a guy reach under the barrier when they had them for covid to find his drink. We hadn't pulled the ticket yet. My SM dumped every drink he touched and told us to remake them before moving onto anything new while looking straight at this dude. So no way I'll get in trouble.
ItsJustPercy13 points11m ago
That’s awful and SO unsanitary. Imagine that if that wasn’t even his drink??
Merodisenpai9 points11m ago
My panic would have accidentally burnt the customer. Please don't reach from across the counter. I it's unsanitary! What if I have something sharp near me?
uncomfortableaf0083 points11m ago
Like I accidentally burn myself all the freaking time Todd I don’t need your liability hands in here too damn

Noo not with the oatmilk too! Doing extra dry cappuccinos with non dairy is extra difficult and time consuming oof🤣💀
trousersquid25 points11m ago
And a venti? You'd probably have to do two pitchers just to get enough foam 🙃
No_Fruit_6188 [OP]13 points11m ago
He did have to use 2 pitchers.
violaaesthetic36 points11m ago
Todd (from Mario) ((bone dry))
crescent_coop6 points11m ago
i am the target audience for this
leeblissy4 points11m ago
seconded on the targeted audience, I did NOT expect a todd from mario comment on the barista sub 😂
crescent_coop3 points11m ago
i mean to be fair, you can’t have drawfee without coffee (or handsome men)

lewabwee24 points11m ago
It really should cost extra because of all the oat milk it’s gonna waste and the labor involved.
Have_Donut21 points11m ago
Or not be an option on it at all. I kinda feel like certain drinks should have restricted options.
lewabwee4 points11m ago
Yeah, there’s just so much waste involved. The labor might warrant an upcharge but the waste should make it just not allowed.
SelocAvrap4 points11m ago
If you pour another size down in milk, aerate longer, then give it a really good tap-tap-swirl repeat, you can get a lot of foam with **little to no** waste
Edit: bolded for emphasis
lewabwee6 points11m ago
Not if you want to do bone dry correctly. That involves you sitting there scooping the foam off the top after it separates. Even going down a size won’t totally clear it and certainly not in a speedy manner since the foam doesn’t immediately separate all at once.
espressojunkie1 points11m ago
It’s going to cost 70 cents extra and the system will also keep in mind that the “extra dry” button was used.
defendtrevornoah17 points11m ago
Todd worked in a smaller more hipster cafe for sure haha
EarthLaser15 points11m ago
People who order venti cappuccinos don’t understand basic science. Foam turns back into liquid! Order a smaller size!
mrsastro3 points11m ago
Order nonfat milk!
EarthLaser2 points11m ago
🤮
Spookybabette15 points11m ago
Todd sounds like he wants everyone to know he knows abt cappuccinos
imtrash3155 points11m ago
This lol
converse_ing12 points11m ago
We have a regular who gets a extra dry cappuccino with layers of Cinnamon Dolce topping throughout the foam.
narviat9 points11m ago
ok ngl that sounds tasty af
insertusernameplease8 points11m ago
Ok but honestly? Genius
Kinsamiss12 points11m ago
This is similar to my drink. A friend of mine calls it ‘caffeinated air’ but in no way am I making it with anything other than dairy based milk.
rosaliecrowe9 points11m ago
I get bone dry... But venti!?!??!? Nooooo 😭 why 18 oz foam 🧐
debreee9 points11m ago
I don’t understand the appeal of bone dry cappuccinos
Ok-Start-67685 points11m ago
It’s just a bigger macchiato. Traditional espresso drinks are common in European cities so a lot of people who prefer that get things like that.
wankmasterr_699 points11m ago
Dry Bones Todd

Todd needs to sit himself down.
katierosie292 points11m ago
oh yeah, at my store we have a Bone Scott as we like to call him
Responsible_Snow71092 points11m ago
Lol at my store we have a bone carol lol she gets a venti cappuccino extra dry and 3 shots and 3 pumps of sugar free vanilla and cinnamon on top. But she only likes it with scooped foam. But she atleast wants nonfat milk which is wayyy better at foaming so i have to still foam 2 or like 1 and a half pitchers of it but i dont mind cuz the lady is so nice lol and she always gives a decent amount of time before coming in to pick it up!
cadmus18902 points11m ago
"...And why is the carpet all wet, Todd?"
Ok-Start-67682 points11m ago
Just get a macchiato ????

Aren’t extra dry cappuccinos just lattes?
Beneficial-Weird-81713 points11m ago
For extra wet, basically. Extra dry means there's practically no liquid milk, it's all foam
