Y’all know Starbucks has traditional espresso drinks right?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I work at a local coffee shop and Starbucks and it’s so annoying hearing my coworkers from my local coffee shop complain about Starbucks and their gross sugary drinks. Like first of all we also have sugary drinks (?) and yes Starbucks isn’t this top tier coffee place but we have “real” coffee drinks.
Espresso macchiato (traditional macchiato NOT caramel macchiato), espresso con pana , cafe el au lait (cafe misto), cortado.
There’s not a huge variety but the most popular traditional espresso drinks are offered.

While you are correct (except for the cortado, from what I heard we haven't had that as an actual order able drink for a while), many of the baristas probably won't know how to properly make them since the only time they have probably ever made on is during their training shifts. I'm not saying y'all can't order them, I'd actually love it if more did, but a new partner may be confused at first lol

Oh I didn’t realize the cortado was discontinued. I mean I don’t make it at either of my jobs either but we could really just do a short quad latte and it’d essentially be the same lol.

I specifically teach my green beans espresso macchiato and cafe misto for this exact reason. No one wants to be the green bean caught in the headlights. In my time, we've not gotten a cortado so i don't bother. We do have regulars who get espresso macchiatos and mistos though. I wish other trainers did more than just the bare minimum. If i only taught what was on the planner, they would immediately drown

Truth. When I was a trainer, I would also teach them those but for a lot of them, that was their one and only interaction making the drink (I'm mainly talking about the espresso Machiatto and the espresso con panna)

Probably due to location. I work near the las vegas strip so most of our clientele are people who work on the strip and some smart tourists. So, very culturally diverse. There's this one dude from Turkey that comes by and gets a quad con panna every day. And so on like that.

The problem is, ours suck. Our espresso and coffee in general sucks. We use these sugary drinks to mask the flavor of our bad coffee. I serve espresso macchiatos probably once every other month, nobody's ever ordered a Cortado in the year and a half I've worked here. The people who order those drinks go to a local cafe for them because ours are garbage. I can barely even drink out lattes unsweetened because of the burnt bitter coffee. I will say we have one customer who gets the espresso con pana daily, but he gets a tall filled to the top with whip.

Wait how can you work at both places? Isn’t that conflict of interest?

I’ve never had any issues with that? I also didn’t disclose with Starbucks I got another job at a coffee shop so maybe? Idk I just work both 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

I would love to be able to order a cortado. What are the chances? Last week I ordered a cold brew no ice and it was wrong, full of ice. The barista gave me attitude. Think she can make a cortado?
