I live in Washington and I’ve heard that the pay rates are similar in CA. I make $16.24. I’ll be getting a raise in January tho. Some of my coworkers that have worked here about a year make $17.05. The longer you work here the more you make. But yeah you’d have to have open availability if you want a lot of hours and only shift supervisors consistently get 40 hours.

Shifts get paid way better than a barista. Barista starts at $15 but are known to get paid around $16 and shifts start at 16.25 but known get paid a little under $20

Idk how much help this will be to you because I live in the Midwest. But our pay starts at $15 which is good for my state because most jobs start at $13. It might not be so great for other places. Maybe they’ll pay you more who knows. Minimum it’s $15.
Flexibility depends on the store. If you want enough hours, you’ll have to have an open availability. Because I unfortunately wasn’t getting enough hours (less than 20 a week, available all closings every day), I had to open my whole day on Saturday and Sundays. I finally get 25 hours weekly now. So instead of just closings, I would do mornings and mid shifts as well. Some stores are short staffed and won’t have a problem with little hours. It just depends. But if you don’t care much about the money or hours, flexibility is good! Do be warned that they do hire based on your availability. I remember my manager telling me it wasn’t a coincidence she hired me because she specifically wanted to cover the hours I was available to work for.
Doesn’t hurt to try! Good luck to you!
