Is it okay to use a drink markout on just syrup?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by StuffiesAndBeatSaber
I have yet do to it, I'm simply curious because I like making coffee at home. Could I get in trouble? What if it put it as a custom tea, no tea, 100 pumps of vanilla syrup and just pour syrup into a tall cup to bring home? 🤔
Would it be more or less acceptable to just bring home a full bottle?

You can purchase full bottles of Vanilla, Caramel, Classic, and Sf Vanilla :) anything with the Starbucks logo on it! I would look into that instead because it technically isn't a drink, just an entire cup of syrup, it could be seen as theft of product or misuse of markouts

Thank you for the reply! I'll just stick to that because I wouldn't want to get a warning or even fired for something like syrup. :) I wasn't sure so I appreciate it

Can you also buy the mocha powder? Asking since it doesn’t have the logo, but it’s my fave chocolate powder I’ve found so far and would love to make it at home

Unfortunately I don't think so, I don't believe there are any more ingredients that you are able to purchase besides the syrups. I could be wrong, but the general rule of thumb is look for the siren logo and a barcode

the starbucks mocha powder is just the same as the hot chocolate they sell! i have a tin of it and when i first made mocha at work i was like “yooo this smells like my hot chocolate”

i hate to disappoint you but its not exactly the same. might be awfully close but the grocery store products are made by a third party.
that being said this is still good advice. my mom lives for a cafe mocha and bought an espresso machine to try and make her own. she buys the stbx hot chocolate powder too. she says nesquick powder also pretty close though if you get the ratio right.

where can we purchase syrups? I've been told we can't purchase them in store
CitrusFriend3993 points11m ago
You might've been misinformed. As long as there is no shortages or ordering issues, if the syrup has a sirens logo it should have a barcode, which can be scanned in store! I've sold it to customers and have seen partners purchase syrups in store

I see it as Grey area. We used to have a partner who ordered a Venti cold milk at the end of their shift every time and said it’s for cereal in the morning and nobody batted an eye.
It’s grey area like adding Tea bag a few times and keeping rest ??

Wel, to be fair cold milk is a menu item

This is different for every Store/SM. Find out what your sm is okay with before you do anything

Ask your manager, but those bottles have barcodes, scan and see they cost around $15 so with discount it’s around $10, that custom tea with 100 pumps mark out seems sketchy
Puzzleheaded_You26013 points11m ago
Are you saying that you can buy them through Starbucks with our discount?
breeeeeeeeee32 points11m ago
Yes! Any of the ones with a barcode- I believe it’s vanilla, SF vanilla, caramel and classic

Does that include the white mocha sauce lol

I was able to do it during a closing shift.. it’s really up to your store and what you have available
