… interesting everyone in my store has enough left in the foamer for two drinks. We don’t batch make to my knowledge. 150 sweet cream and then on 3 setting. Usually makes enough for 2 drinks. Are we doing it wrong? Most of my store are baristas less than a year so perhaps we got a bad line of telephone on our hands!

So your batch foaming, which frequently doesn't foam correctly, and reusing foam thats been sitting in the pitcher? I hope you're at the very least keeping it in the fridge

this is coming from a 10+ year barista, i won’t claim you’re wrong, but during peak sometimes it’s absolutely necessary. just like batching frappuccino’s is against policy. my store was top 5 fastest drive through last quarter and minor shortcuts that don’t sacrifice significant amounts of quality are just part of keeping times down, which the customers appreciate. we’re also second in our district for customer connections so we definitely aren’t disappointing.

I would do it on 4 with extra sc and it wouldn’t sit for even a minute because there are constant orders of white mocha with vsccf. Milks sit on the counter sometimes between two drinks because we are always slammed, but worry not. They don’t sit long before they are empty or put back in the fridge.

i mean not a full blender ofc but i always try to reuse stuff thats already blended/make salted or chocolate foam with whatever extra i have and when they asked me to do that i cant reuse any extra foam for any other drink

I just wish there was a limit of 1 kind of cold foam per drink. I had a drink that ordered extra of all 3 types of cold foam along with a whole bunch of other modifications.

sorry I didn't realize that because this is an easy job for YOU that it's easy for literally every other barista! thanks I'll let everyone else on the shift I'm working on now that this is an easy job even though 2 people called off and we're already understaffed, customers have been screaming at us since 4:30am and our sm refuses to turn off mobile orders. thanks!

Should be filling to 100 line per drink for cold foam, and dumping every time. Double batch for 2 or 3 of the same but shouldn't make extra unless needed.
I found it annoying to bend down and look at the line, so I saw it measured out to just barely covering the metal disk, but not the nut in the middle. Helps to be able to just look into the pitcher and be able to tell.

you’re not supposed to be reusing anything and you need to dumb the leftovers afterwards, i understand it feels like a waste but when you reuse foam leftovers it affects the quality and taste of the drink. just do it how you’re supposed to be doing it, it’s really not that bad to just add a splash of purée or something else they want in there, that’s what they’re paying for

i understand the feeling of needing to get drinks out as fast as you can, but the quality tends to suffer because of that, it’s best to do the steps properly and just go at your pace, if it’s busy customers will have to wait no matter what so don’t stress yourself out too much

I don’t mind it, it’s usually an interesting little addition and it’s fairly simple to do….. It’s the steaming random crap in their milks for me tho. I just tell them I’ll try my best, but there’s no special way to see that kind of request so the bar probably will not see it in time 🤷🏻♀️
