SCAP summer graduation kits (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by DelaneyShack
Howdy partners,

I graduated today from ASU and today was also my last day at Starbucks. I know SCAP students are supposed to get like an apron, diploma, cap, etc. delivered in a “grad kit” the week before graduation. My store still has not received this and I’m wondering if anyone is in the same boat?

I tried to contact partner support about this since it’s my last day and I want my diploma. They seemed lost and told me to contact ASU but I’ve had no luck there either. Any leads?

UPDATE: I received my grad kit to my apartment 4 weeks after my graduation date.

Your diploma isn’t in there. It’s just more or less a congratulatory certificate. Diplomas take about 2 months to receive after graduation.

Good to know!

Hi! Congratulations on graduating! I hope you don’t mind me asking but do you think this college program was worth it? I’m currently in the process of applying but I want to know if it’s a hit or miss.

I think it’s worth it as a current student.
First year in asu (I had 54 credits transfer from my CC in MD), so far they’ve paid about 15k in college fees with me paying around $300 in taxes (because of how the benefit works). My goal is economics and even data analytics. I’m hoping to move into corporate at some point and have experience with a multibillion dollar company. It’s worth it because it’s free and a decent school. WPC is like a top business school in the Us.

Thank you so much for the information! Do you like the business courses? Are the visual enough? I’m currently attempting to major in accounting. I also have around 70 credits (used to have a different major and then did business administration for two semesters). My current university does an amazing job at that when it comes to online. But it’s sadly expensive

I’m actually not in the WP Carey school yet because I haven’t taken the pre-req courses. I was a nursing major prior and that’s where my credits came from.
I like the courses I’ve taken so far, mainly knocking out my gen Ed’s that I have left and After this semester I’ll be 45 credits away from graduation!

I will say, from the courses I’ve taken, the class depends on the professor. My Dracula course was awesome, looking at how Dracula was based off of Vlad the Impaler and how that shaped vampire history. My religion course was intriguing as well, as I’d never taken a religious study course. And my Public health course on natural disasters was okay, and I say that because I’m not a Public health major nor do I want to go back near healthcare lol
I’m still four classes away from matriculating into WPC, but so far it’s great (especially since I don’t have to pay for it!!$

100% worth it! Even if you don’t stay at Starbucks the full 4 years, doing some college courses in the meantime will definitely be helpful.

If you’re wondering if a bachelors degree is worth it in general, it is in my experience. I was hired immediately for a position in my field of interest, hence yesterday being my last day at SB. It’s a significant pay increase from Starbucks too. I know this isn’t everyone’s experience, but the degree helped me for sure!

Thank you for the honest answer! I’ve heard many stories of ASU graduates getting a job straight afterwards. I’m definitely excited to start soon!
