Rude co workers (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by EmpireSunsets
So I’ve started working at Starbucks for over a month now and I feel a little behind compared to the other three girls who trained with me as I still don’t know how to make fraps or hot drinks. I too haven’t had the opportunity to really even practice making them. When I am given the chance I’m usually taken off quickly as I’m too slow making them therefore I’m always put on cashier or window. Because of this I’ve had a hard time at work feeling confident. Because I feel like I’m always annoying someone when I ask for help. What I mean by this is one girl at my work will out right take over my position or answer me all annoyed or say a comment like “bro what” when I don’t catch on quickly to something”. I hate working with her and I feel good on days I don’t work with her. But then today I realized another person that gets me down. My supervisor. I asked her a question and she gave me the most annoyed response. In the worst attitude because I was just asking for clarification over a drink and she was annoyed that I didn’t know it. And then after I cried about it in the back to my other supervisor she put me on cash and proceeded to treat me like I didn’t know anything. When I know how to do everything but hot drinks and fraps. But I wasn’t even working on those positions I was just doing cashier. My manager as well can talk very sassy and rude with me. I’m considering moving stores or quitting but I don’t know. I’m fine with what this job has to offer it’s just my co workers are the worst and I dread going to work because of it. What do I do.

TLDR:

My co workers are very rude and I’m considering quitting or switching stores

Hi! Sorry you are having a hard time at your store. It really sucks not feeling supported because this job can take a while to learn and they shouldn’t talk down to you for asking questions. The whole store runs better when people work as a team. If I were in your position, I’d talk to your shift leader and let them know how you are feeling and maybe what you’d like to work on for that shift. Don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself (in a positive, assertive way). When I first started, I thought my shift leader was really mean. Once I got to know her, I kind of understood her demeanor and we got along fine! It takes a few months to really understand the recipes and the people. And fraps were my nightmare at first, too! I hope this sort of helps!
