thoughtful things to do for coworkers? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by abandon_hopeless
My last day is in 6 days after working here for a little over a year. I love my coworkers so much and they made the whole job tolerable. I was going to write each of them a note on a pretty card but I wanted to get each of them (or a collective small gift. My ideas so far are sharpies for everyone or a 50 pack of timbits (yes I'm in Canada) to being to share. Any ideas appreciated!!

In case anyone is curious im leaving sbx because I have to move.

Greetings,

From a functional perspective, sharpies or any other job related tool is an excellent idea. Even if only functional, people will still appreciate you.

Going more personal, it is harder to say for obvious reasons. I suppose one avenue is taking individuals aside and buying them their favorite drink or food item (if you know not what it is, good luck finding out), provided you have no qualm about expenses.

The only other avenue I can think of requires some detective work. Try to find out simple items that people like or hobbies/disciplines people talk about and get them a gift related to that (within your budget, of course).

Ultimately though, I think people will appreciate the card even that is all it was, especially if you already possess excellent rapport with them, which I assume you do. Just giving a verbal account of your appreciation of their work and your friendship (just relaying your honest feelings) can go a long way. Speaking of excellent work, please allow me to thank you for yours as you close out your days at your job. I hope your next endeavor bears even more fruit than this one.

Cheers,

I recommend getting people coloured sharpies so they can pick the one they want as their own, and maybe some sort of crafting tape to nametag them

Greetings,

Great idea! Very cost effective, simple, and functionally sound.
