New hire please help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by finicky___
Just got hired at the local Starbucks and I’m the kind of person who likes to go into things as prepared as possible but here I’m kinda lost.

Any advice/ resources to help me not look like a major idiot is super appreciated

Probably not what you'd like to hear but everyone goes into it looking like a major idiot lol.
While you can try to memorize drink recipes by looking at them on the Starbucks app or memorize pump/shot numbers, the best way you're going to learn is through struggling through it.

I can message you some infographics someone on reddit gave me if you think it'd be helpful!

ask questions always. it makes a difference i promise. also, use the resources provided. recipe cards, register, store resources etc. feel free to ask your trainer where to find the recipe cards either on the ipad or the actual cards cause it helps a lot. whenever there’s downtime id go through the pos screen to make sure i knew where everything is and make sure i was making everything right when i first started.

i trained and then had a week off bc i was on vacation & using quizlets that people have made really helped me remember everything

If you are having trouble with remembering receipts and # of pumps etc, I recommend scrolling through the mobile ordering app or website and then make your own chart or write it down somewhere, it really helped me make some sense of bar
