Procedure for sick coworker? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Unfair-Talk176
What is the procedure for vomit? Like would we have to close if a coworker threw up during their shift?

Hypothetical, of course..

If they throw up on the floor/back of house, the store should be closed and hazmat should be called.

If they threw up in the bathroom, assuming you have the staff, the store remains open but that employee needs to be sent home pronto.

When you say back of house, does that include in a trash can?

I can't speak in terms of fact, but honestly in my opinion I would say yes, hazmat would have to be called for that.

The thought of being the person that has to empty that trash can? yikes. I'd end up adding more to it if I had to do that. Plus, what if the bag leaks, some missed, etc.? Gross. Not worth the risk.

I’d wager no and then answer is to throw away the entire trash can and just order a new one on the next RP.

Not worth hazmat folks for something contained.
