Spoke with the district manager about unioninzing. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by crazycocopuf
She essentially said it makes us a franchise and that we would have no manager and that we would have to negotiate with starbucks corporate every month for supply orders.

Is this true? Or just scary talk? Since then word has been spread and our union talks have slowed. I actually think it wouldn’t be so bad divvying up managerial duties to partners (especially for better pay and someone to finally fix our AC in our third year of raw-dogging August heat).

BUT REALLY I JUST WANTER BETTER PAY. What of we all do a store walkout for better pay? 🫠❤️

You would still have a manager. You would not be doing orders.

That's honestly the most outlandish thing I've ever heard. No, you'll still have a store manager and won't have to negotiate for the order.

Higher pay with a union is more likely than without, union busting tactics aside. Look at all the people not seeing the raise properly on their checks be anyways. Not allowed when you have a contract.

that's fucking ridiculous. she's not just misleading you, that is an outright baldface lie.

Well there’s no franchise at all p

misleading partners is what starbucks does best. when a company only views you as numbers not people this is what happens.
