Guy in DT doing inappropriate things..? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by I_atethecat
On this frightful last hour of my shift, a male customer, probably in his mid twenties, comes through the drive thru. Normal so far.
Everytime i lean out the window to give him his drink/food or take/give his card I would notice his eyes shift from my eyes…to my chest.

Now for reference, im pretty small and don’t really have that much upper chest. So I excused it as it was just in my head. I was wearing a plain white v-neck. This, when standing, is covered by my apron. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same when leaning out the drive thru window.

Once he had all of his items he did the “call me” hand and to which I replied “what?”. His response was “Do you have a boyfriend?”.
“Yeah, I do”. And he drove off.

the real kicker here, I’m still a minor (for the next <20 days).

I’ve seen this customer a few times before but on a rare occasion. I just don’t really know how I should feel about this.

i’m sorry this has happened to you, and i really hope your managers are empathetic towards the situation, but i wouldn’t get my hopes up about this customer getting banned. i have lost count of the amount of creepy weirdo customers that have been wildly inappropriate to our employees that are still welcomed at our location. recently, there was a customer that came in and repeatedly requested to speak to me (an ssv) and once he was denied the privilege because i was busy, proceeded to call the baristas pricks and claimed very untrue accusations of us making fun of him and stayed in the store for 45 mins making EVERYONE uncomfortable. i filed an incident report and he’s come in multiple times after that and the last time he did my sm was there. i explained who he was and how uncomfortable he makes me to the point where i would rather not speak to him and my sm told me i could not ignore him and made it seem like i was wrong in this situation. and in another instance, there’s an infamous old ass regular that would bring in candy and typed love letters to my coworker that is also an ssv, even after she made it clear to him she doesn’t have any interest in him. he’s told her he knows what car she drives and comes in when he sees she’s there. and he’s still allowed to come in for some reason…..

Omg that’s awful. I wish starbucks cared about their baristas and shifts as much as the customers. :/

My manager would say to file an incident report to keep it documented in case the problem persists or gets worse. Definitely talk to your sm or shift

Yew i would definitely tell ur manager and DM and i hope to god they do something about it. Regardless, make an incident report and tell ur manager and DM too especially since ur a minor because starbucks does not wana get in legal issued or a lawsuit since there would be paper trail of him creeping so i would def make a incident report and keep doing so whenever he says or does something uncomfortable. If u ask him to stop and they keep coming in other days and doing it still or they get irate, then u definitely can bam him
I think i read that in the de-escalation part of the training that had examples of what to do. But regardless of what starbucks' policy is on this.... if i was ur manager and u told me this, i would ban him. Idc. Nobody should feel uncomfortable for any amount of times

Please tell your SM and ASM. I just had something creepy happen to me recently and your safety is more important than his drinks/food. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Sending you good vibes.

Talk to your shifts, ASM and SM. Not much will happen, but documentation is important.
