Need Advice and Help Plzz (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Emperor_Palpapeen
Hey fellow baristas, I've been a barista/trainer for 2 years now. I'm done. I need the money bc SoCal is NO JOKE expensive, other than that, I would quit. I've been looking into other jobs bc the early hours, rude and draining customers and my mental health are seriously just too much. My mental health is so bad rn. Don't wanna go on a tangent about it, but I need help figuring out how to quit? Do I just tell my manager I'm putting in my 2 weeks? How can I use up my remaining sick hours so they don't go to waste? Do I need to do anything online or just by word of mouth? So that whenever I do find another job, which has already taken months, I'll know what to do... thanks guys, appreciate any help. Hope you all aren't struggling as much as me, and if so, you aren't alone.

For the two weeks you just need to give a written and signed notice. I’d include your planned last day of work and your partner numbers. You do not need to put a reason on your two weeks. As for sick pay I don’t believe you get paid out for that. Just your vacation time. So if you want to use it you just gotta start using it (probably easier to use it before you put your two weeks in)

Okay, sounds easy enough. Thought it would be more complicated than that lol. Thank you!

Also at least in California and I believe but don’t know all 50 states you don’t even HAVE to give 2 weeks you can just quit on the spot, although I highly recommend giving two weeks if Starbucks is your only recent work history as you want to leave on good terms to be able to use them as a reference.

Although if it’s too much and you need to quit on the spot when you apply elsewhere you can always put them as your former employer and put not too contact them and then in interviews you can explain why.

i’ve known some partners who write in a card when their last day is or some people who will just write it on a post it note. nothing too special really. maybe just write in the book the vacation/sick pay you want to use before you finally quit.

Yeah some people at my store have wrote a letter but some others just quit without any notice at all so 🤷 thank you for the response!
