"This Person Has No Idea What He/She is Talking About or Just Ordered." What Did They Order? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by JustATrailsFan
Greetings,

I said it in a comment in my last post, but I have a long-standing crack theory that people generally have no clue what they are really ordering and just order what they hear about in media or something. What are some of the craziest orders you got that made you think the title quote?

I am only considering face to face register orders, not mobile, but am not explicitly barring you from mentioning (mobile makes everybody crazy no matter what).

My dialogue with a lady sometime ago went something like...

Lady: Can I get a Strawberry Creme Frappé not blended?

Me (....what?): Sorry, I am afraid that is not possible. Frappés must be blended by their own nature.

Lady (looking about as confused as a standard build high schooler in a quantum mechanics lecture): Ummm...okay. Uuhhhhhhh....

Me: *legit spends the next four to five-ish minutes playing detective by going through the menu with her to figure out what she wants* (thank the Lord it was a slow day).

After explaining just about everything we had available to her, I will leave it to your imagination to guess what she finally settled on (unless you just really want me to tell you).

(I also had a guy ask if a matcha latte with an espresso shot. Imagine that.

What are your stories?

"can i get a blonde flat white with just a splash of almond milk?"

uh do you mean in addition to the whole milk, or instead? and then i get a blank, uncomprehending stare in response.

"oh, this frappucino was meant to be hot -" no it wasn't. it really, really wasn't.

and then there's the constant stream of people who expect me to be able to modify their sandwiches (swapping buns or different cheese, not just "can you pick the cheese off" bc that's okay by me). i assume they're expecting that we build all the sandwiches and that's a fair assumption, i just correct them and say oh no sorry the sandwiches are pre-wrapped.

I honestly see why they think they could. The modifications on drinks seem to be unlimited.

Literally just the other day I had a guy ask me if I could put mozzarella in his spinach wrap instead of feta lmfao
Responsible_Snow7109 6 points 11m ago
Tell him to buy a string cheese and put it in there himself 😊

Lady came in and ordered at the register, she said, "can I get a grande iced latte with an extra shot and just a splash of milk? For some reason they always give me way too much milk." I thought it was funny af, I explained to her that lattes are made with a lot of milk, and that she should instead order a triple espresso, iced, with light 2%. She was very thankful, it was a wholesome interaction.

Greetings,

Good! I am really glad it worked out kindly. ☺️

This has happened twice in two variations now:
The first is when a lady was reading a text off trying to order in drive thru and says something like "A grande iced coffee, keep the classic, with vanilla cream and vanilla and foam". I kept trying to clarify, does she want vanilla, vsc, *and* foam? and kept getting ambiguous answers. We settled on vsc, vanilla, and foam. She takes a sip of it, just the foam, pure foam, and goes "yup that's right!"

And now today, where we couldn't ring things in correctly, a lady comes thru drive saying 3/4 of her drinks were made wrong. The DTO asks "like the tags are wrong or it tastes wrong? We've been having to be a little creative with how we ring things in today." She says both, and that her chai was too milky, and then snaps at the DTO saying something like "I know what it's supposed to taste like. It tastes wrong. The tag is wrong too. Just remake it." It's an iced chai with vsc foam, she takes a sip of literally just foam and says "okay, that's right." ?????

Moral of the story: People go wild for their vsc foam

Greetings,

It must be something in the foam that makes people so crazy. It is NOT that important, folks.

Some lady came in once and asked for a BOSE, but with, get this, light milk???

According to her, she believed that her drink was always so watered down because of the milk (and didn’t even consider the ice wtf). When my coworker made it for her, she just stared blankly at the cup and then asked for more milk and an extra shot in there. I tried to let her know to ask for light ice next time but she wasn’t having it and drove off lmao.

Greetings,

Milk waters stuff down rather than the ice...that is a new one. 😶

had a tr iced coffee come thru with a pump of literally every syrup and a bit of every milk known to humans. quite possibly the most vile thing ever to have come into creation.
JustATrailsFan [OP] 1 points 11m ago
Greetings,

Dare I ask, but... what did it smell like?

it was too sweet. the smell from all that sugar made my nose sting.
Responsible_Snow7109 4 points 11m ago
Yea I've definitely had people go like "can i get a latte with some cream?"...whenever that has happened, i would ask "do u want it made solely with cream or do u want it made the regular way with 2% milk and a splash of sweet cream poured in with it?" My responses have been people wanting it to be made fully with cream. There has been someone who said just a splash of cream on the espresso and then pour the steamed 2% in. And lastly, another response was "oh i didnt know it came with milk".....🤦‍♀️

Greetings,

They probably will ask for milk in an americano too. That is just mind-boggling.

Wait what do u mean? Lol 😆 people do get milk in their americanos tho
JustATrailsFan [OP] 7 points 11m ago
Greetings,

I meant milk in lieu of water, not some milk mixed in the americano, oops. Bad wording.

All good lol just was confused for a sec! But yea i could see somebody asking for that instead of lets say...a latte lol cuz thats literally what that would be

Today I made a Slt Crm Cf ColdBrew. “This is supposed to be HOT!”

Like….. how?

Wouldn’t hot ColdBrew just be regular coffee then‽

Greetings,

I mean...I guess I can chuck it in the microwave for you? 😶 Just...what?
