WHY do people think they’re entitled to special treatment???? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Jaded_Fun_7133
Grande rant in a Trenta cup. I’m so annoyed at the fact that people think they can disregard everything and no rules apply to them. Our DT is closed for the day because of the tech system not working, we’re mobiles only right now. This lady passes by all the signs (there’s 3 before the speaker and one on our speaker) and all of the cones we have cones at the speaker box and after the window because we aren’t using drive thru (which I thought was clear, obviously not). She wiggles her way through the cones to the window (WHY?) sits there for a bit (3-5 mins max) then backs all the way out of the drive through that’s curved (impressive, I guess)she then proceeds inside and picks up her order and goes no tip for you guys. Like we did nothing wrong she’s the one who chose to ignore everything saying drive through is closed -_- also she acts like we get that much in tips anyways her one dollar would’ve been like a nickel per person if we’re lucky lmaooo

Starbucks customers are literally the worst. Walmart tier shenanigans

this is the best description of the customers I’ve ever heard HAHAHA but for real though like go to dunkin if you’re going to pull this shit 😂

A large number of our customers dont view us as humans. That is why they feel like they can say anything to us because they think that we fear the almighty siren gods and terrified to lose our jobs cowering like scared mice. Thats also why they scream at us that their drink is incorrect even tho they didnt ask for a specific thing because starbucks breeds and encourages this type of behavior. People throw money at us when paying for their order instead of handing it to us. You can greet people at the register and say "hello how are u" and some people don't even say a simple "hi"...they just go on with ordering "yea gimme a...."

And so for this lady to say "no tip for u guys" on her way out probably made her feel so high within herself because people like her think that we give a shit about that ignorant statement and they think we are bended at the knee in front of them with hands out in front, begging for their change and for food lol. Nobody gives a shit that u didnt feel like tipping today asshat. U just had to make it known that ur a rude person lol go right ahead. But normal people that dont wana tip just walk out without verbally showing everyone that theyre an asshole

Yes this! Perfectly worded the jumbled thoughts in my head and yeah for her no tip I don’t know anyone at my store who genuinely looks at tips as a part of income it’s 25-30 tops if it’s a dollar less it is not end all be all they act like that’s our form of payment like a server

Yeah, Starbucks customers are the worst tippers, and I have worked at 3 other espresso shops before joining Starbucks this year!

Yea and i kno tho that there are some partners who really look forward to tips tho because it helps out with gas or some stuff from the grocery store. But even if tips are a huge help to all the partners at ur store, she thinks her saying "no tip for u guys" is guna make u guys sweet talk her and beg her for a nickel and 2 pennies lmao. Like she really thinks her tip would have made a dent in ur guys' weekly tips lolol just like the same people who scream at baristas over something thats out of our control or a mistake they made, theyre always like "im never coming back here".....lmao oh noe whatever shall i do now? 🥺...🙄

“Oh no I guess I’ll have to go get 37 cents from somewhere else then” 🤷🏼‍♀️

tbh a lot of people don't know that its the main form of pay for servers. it's seen as provided for exemplary service so when that is not provided in their eyes they have to be holier than thou and have to make it known that they were not given what they're entitled to. it honestly perplexes me... the food industry thrives on letting adults act like children and treat people inhumanely. it's so dystopian.

I’m gonna be real with you about something. I’ve been in the service industry for the last twelve years, ever since I was 16. I’ve worked in kitchens, coffee shops, amusement park concession stands, restaurants, grocery stores, food warehouses, name a job that deals with food and I’ve probably worked it.

I’ve been with Starbucks since March of 2021 and even after all these years in different jobs, I can say without hesitation that Starbucks has the stupidest, nastiest, childish, most illiterate, and most entitled customer base out of any job I’ve ever had. I’m actually disgusted every single day by some people’s behavior when they come to my store. Every single day I contemplate why I still work here and what led me to feeling like I can’t go and look for another job. I’ve got extremely thick skin, not much at all really ever gets to me, but I’m developing actual mental health and anger issues that I can realistically attribute to this job because of how abhorrent and inhumane our customers are. I don’t know what it is about our stupid sugary coffee flavored milk and wannabe milkshakes that cause people to turn their brains off and lose all sense of their sanity, but goddamn these people suck.

Jeez, that’s very interesting and upsetting that it has to be us. I love the nice customers, they keep me going I love being in customer service when there’s people that are genuinely so happy and uplifting! But people like mentioned in my post above really through it off ://

Don’t get me wrong, there are tons of amazing and genuine customers out there and I am grateful for every one of them! Unfortunately, there are more box ones than good (at least in my experience) and their negativity far outweighs the positivity of the good ones. I do love my regulars though! :)
Jaded_Fun_7133 [OP] 2 points 11m ago
I 100% agree, it’s so shitty that is the truth because my regulars and even non regulars who are genuinely so sweet deserve the most!

When I first started at a licensed store Starbucks, the amount of shit that people would do/say to us was way worse than what I dealt with working at restaurants before. One story that always comes to mind that had happened in the first few weeks of working there, was when this woman came in to buy a soda from our soda machine, and she came back after she filled it, saying it was flat and she wanted a refund, which my coworker happily and promptly obliged. After my coworker handed her the change for her refund, this woman without a word, just drops the soda on the floor and walked away. I seriously don't get why people think they can treat other people like this just because they work in the service industry.

Fuck I relate to this so much. I worked kitchen lines (and every other restaurant position) for yearssss and I’ve never been this angry at and with work, to the point that it bleeds into my personal life. I genuinely cannot stand people after 8 months of being here. I am overstimulated hours a day by assholes to where I just want to sit in silence when I get home. I feel bad for my husband.

Greetings,

That was raw...thank you so much for sharing your experience, mate. Cafe is actually my first gig in the food industry, so I was curious if it was the norm for every other food industry customer base.

Thanks so much, and I hope you are taking care of yourself. ☺️

Cheers
