Lol it's not a Washington/Seattle thing, it's how loudly will staff put their feet down, especially the shift. I've worked in Seattle buxs spitting distance from corporate that will adjust business when staff request.
Get the shift lead to firmly say no and have baristas back them up. Stay firm. Often that just means being silent. Maybe toss in a "this isn't the partner experience chief" if you want to throw their language back at them.
Once they break corporate goon character once, it'll be easier in the future. Be sure to thank them and let them know how much it means to y'all for them to listen to you as partners.

My store is one that usually gets denied turning off of mobils but because of the POS issue and the fact there was only 3 of us until 9:45am, they turned them off until 10am. We were DT only until 10am as well.
