Minimum hours, advice please (self.starbucksbaristas)

One of my main reasons for working here (for almost 2 years) was flexibility. My availability is spotty throughout Sept-December every year, but then goes back to normal - which my SM hired me knowing. Now my SM is gone and we have a new one + this 12 hour company wide policy. Considering I won’t be able to do the 12 hours weekly + 18 hr availability in the fall, should I just quit or try to contact DM / RM / whoever will listen? I’ve loved working here, so I really would like to continue working here - but idk if that’s possible with the new requirements :P

My SM has made promises for all the college kids that have worked here for a long time to rehire them when they come back. It'll be a lot of work, but that may work for you if your SM is willing. I'd assume you will lose all the long term benefits you've gotten this far, but if youre okay with it it doesn't seem like such a bad idea?

Going to talk more with “my” manager (a manager from a diff store bc my original manager found a better job elsewhere 🥲) about it tomorrow. We’ll see if something can be worked out. What makes it even worse is the 18 hours of availability thing when the availability I have in the fall are the shifts no one wants to work so I’m basically guaranteed them. Oh well

There's not much wiggle room. If you can't meet the requirement, you can't work here.

Of course, having said that... there will be managers who ignore it. There will always be managers who ignore rules. It's unfair, but it's true.
