when a customer asks for "less sweet" or "not sweet" drinks (self.starbucksbaristas)

How should I put in drinks when the customer requests that it be less sweet?

I had a customer ordering several drinks (frappucinos) /caramel macchiattos type and they asked for each drink to be "less sweet"

For the caramel machiattos I subtracted a pump or two of vanilla and put in light caramel drizzle so it would still be that drink.

For the frapps I tried the same. But Im not sure the customer was pleased with the outcome. They went to another barista about their own drink.

It also seems that they weren't "familiar" with Starbucks menu items. We have a local chain competitor that has similar drinks and menu items but tend to go heavy on the syrups and sauces compared to Starbucks so after the fact it occured to me that maybe they might go there regularly and wanted to try our version thinking we put in similar amounts.

put it back on the customer. ask them what “less sweet” means to them. none of our drinks are truly healthy! or if you do not desire an elongated conversation with the customer, simply add less pumps of flavor, but beware with this as customers often use this as a tactic to get free drinks by stating they cannot taste the flavor. this results in a remade drink or a credit if they call since customers have been abusing the “would you like this drink also since I am just going to dump it down the drain?” it happens all the time at my store.

Good advice I got the impression that they weren't regular customers and there were like 5-6 people with them

Gotta ask the customer!

“Okay we can do that! This drink comes with 4 pumps of flavor would you like one less to make it 3 or cut the flavor in half and make it 2?”
