Officially over it (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Affectionate_Fart
I’m over trying to go above and beyond for this team.
Closing SSV left the safe open last night and our safe is off by like a decent amount. Officially over lazy people, especially when they leave fifteen-thirty minutes before they’re scheduled off.

Document everything!

What exactly am I documenting? As in incident report or just texting my SM?

I'd have taken pictures and sent it to the SM.
Actually I would have called cause was money missing? Could you have been robbed?

No alarms were off, the store was secure. Funny thing is I had to let a barista in last night so I secured the store after they closed. No alarms were going off when I entered last night. The shift didn’t count the safe yesterday, but this week The safe has been off by ~$100, but for whatever reason shifts don’t like to par the tills…
So I let my Sm know, the night shift actually came in for coffee, and he legit said “Yeah. I was rushing trying to get out to meet up with friends.” (They left fifteen minutes prior to schedule-hence why I had to let a barista in after she left her keys…) I also found an extra ~15 bucks in a random till.
I don’t get why SSVs don’t care…like if there’s something sbux will fire you for it’s money…

Do an incident report, text your SM. But for your own “covering your ass” type of thing keep a journal and every time the standard for safety and security isn’t being kept, write it down including date and time. That way if need be camera footage can be checked so that you aren’t blamed. Every time money was off in tills or the safe I (SSV) wrote it on the Daily Records Book. I would write “safe short $20 at open, 3T over $10 at open” etc. If the alarm wasn’t set or if they left a door unlock. These weren’t consistent misses but if they were I would be keeping a journal to cover my ass.

Some unfortunately just want to be SSV for the raise :/

i picked up a shift at another store in my district and was going in thinking i would be a barista (im a closing ssv at my original store). i got there and they handed me keys and basically told me to figure it out. i had never worked at another store before so it was nerve wracking. at the end of the night i went to count the tills and they weren’t parred correctly the night before and the ssv before me gave me the wrong code for their safe :(( i texted the SM and let them know but they just told me not to worry about it and they’ll fix it in the morning. a lot of stores and ssv are just run really poorly nowadays. plus i don’t think anyone is experiencing repercussions.

How does one leave the safe open? Like don’t they do a walk thru before leaving?
Affectionate_Fart [OP] 1 points 11m ago
You would think…
I’m honestly not sure.
He also admitted to not counting said safe, so I’m not sure if it money was stolen or just not pared with the deposits but I’m more amazed by the response I got “Oh yeah. I was rushing to meet friends to hangout” like brah…I’d be more worried about being fired.

He should just get fired. Too many I don’t knows and story doesn’t add up. His friends can wait a minute or two. U know what? He probably stole it to hung out with his friends. How can u not count before the end of the day?!
Affectionate_Fart [OP] 1 points 11m ago
I’m not sure, but it’s not my place to say. Do I think he’s stealing, no, but do I think he’s lazy. Also if you’re scheduled until x time, you shouldn’t be knocking out fifteen or so early and doing a shit job.

I’m not sure if he’s an asset as a barista or trainer but he’s definitely not an asset as a supervisor

Cash management issues are usually taken very seriously and I would report that :-)

I did. It wasn’t acknowledged when texting with the SM. it’s whatever at this point
