Partner Craft Training thoughts? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by HiiAlberta
After finally completing my craft training I was left with some thoughts about the effectiveness and overall moral behind the process. While I definitely thing the initial upfront commitment by Starbucks for better training was a step. I felt as if this training was rather mundane and not the most effective form of training. What were the communities thoughts towards the training?

I have mine tomorrow and the response from some baristas have been “Well I KNOW how to talk to people and make drinks!” As they hand out a shaken espresso with no classic and dead shots before starting a refresher that they don’t plan on shaking in front of a customer who legit wants their drink shaken extra because she’s tried of it not being shaken.

i think the de-escalation training was a great idea that was terribly executed. most of it seems like it was done by a person who has never worked in any sort of customer service job much less at starbucks so it was a little annoying to read and go through, as far as other aspects of the training it was okay just nothing special that i can see helping most partners who need more training. the only parts i appreciated were the importance of shot quality and quality steamed milk but that was about it. i cant see it being really effective for any of the pods though, the advising pod training felt entirely useless. coffee tasting was fun at least.

What were the 3 topics on crafting? One of them is effective communication I think the other is coaching. My DM wants me to tell him which one I want to work on but I forgot them 🥴
