It’s completely fine to put cold foam on hot drinks. I’ve seen people say we can’t because it changes the temperature in an unsafe way, or something like that, but that’s a myth
interyx5 points11m ago
If this was true we couldn't put whipped cream on hot drinks. Smh.
fuwaldah7 points11m ago
You can. There is no rule. We put whipped cream on hot drinks. There's no difference.
Necessary_Low9396 points11m ago
I just pour sweet cream in there without telling now. One time I did tell a customer and they said it’s ok foam it anyway and that’s when I was like ok I’m never telling again and will just straight up put the sweet cream without foaming. Waste of time.
heyitsmaria246 points11m ago
I just offer sweet cream. It’s the same thing since technically it will melt into the drink.
lattelife423 points11m ago
I usually let them know while we CAN do it, it's not recommended as it cools it to lukewarm. I have one regular customer who doesn't mind, but most are put off by it. That's what whipped cream is for!
Lightheaded_gamer2 points11m ago
I’ve seen a lot of comparisons of whip creams and the cold foam.
Foam dissolves to liquid faster than whip cream melting , thus making the drink cold faster; plus the amount of space you leave for the foam is larger in comparison to the space you give for whip cream. So when you leave a gap in the hot cup and fill the rest with cold foam of any kind, guess what the drink is gonna be lukewarm by the time the customer leaves the store.
I used to not recommend it before leaving because it just won’t be the same experience as having VSCF on the cold drinks and it does leave people to have stomach issue (I am one of those people).

Y’all I’m not a customer 😂 I’ve been working at Starbucks for 2 years I just recently transferred to a new store and they just have different rules than my last so I was just wondering y’all be so quick to assume I’m a customer 😂
Camellia_Sins1 points11m ago
The store should do whatever you want, but just be aware why it seems stupid to us. You're paying in some places over a dollar fifty more to have an inch of cold aerated heavy cream cool down your drink and getting the same flavor and texture addition as you would if you were getting the free whipped cream. And whip needs less room than the foam, so you're getting more drink for less money. The batista ringing you up should explain that to you instead of bullshitting about not being allowed to.
Camellia_Sins1 points11m ago
For hot drinks you're much better off asking the batista to put extra milk foam if you don't want the whipped cream. And if it's salted foam you want, have them sprinkle the salt packet on top.

Put whipped cream on it instead, basically the same flavor.
felinefireghost1 points11m ago
If a store says they can’t do it, they’re being kind of silly. Like others have said, it’s the same idea as whipped cream. We have a guy who gets salted foam on his hot vanilla latte. He wants it, we do it. No big deal.
Brooklynbubbles1 points11m ago
I do it. Same thing as whip, inconvenienced a bit because our hot lids are not near our cold bar so it slows me down a bit.
