What’s the correct way to ring someone out who doesn’t have enough change? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Minimiahmoose
So today, a kid came in and was short 25 cents. I asked my shift manager if I should just give it to him and she said yeah just give him the drink. So I clicked “exact tender” even though it was short 25cents. Looking back now I’m nervous that it’ll look like I stole 25 cents. What is the correct way to do this? Now I’m stressing even though I asked my shift manager anyways lol

I’m not advocating for rule breaking bc definitely if someone habitually made incorrect change that’d get noticed, but 25¢ is probably not going to be noticed at all. Heck, when shifts count the tills at the end of the day, they just weigh the loose coins in the cups, and there is a slight margin of error with the cash counter especially with change—who’s to say the variance wasn’t that?

My rule of thumb is $5 discrepancy gets reported/noted in the DRB. Idgaf about .25

You can do custom discounts! I know you can discount a percentage of the item, but I believe you can also do an amount.

My store keeps a recovery card available for this specifically!

Custom discount. Tap and item and tap "% off" and put whatever amount you want.
