Coffee tasting (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by HarleyLeMay
My manager has asked me to lead a coffee pairing and tasting with our district manager. I’ve only done two tastings before where I was leading it. I’m confident, but also extremely nervous. So if anyone could give any tips that would be great.

Grab a coffee passport and read about some of the coffees. Are there any that are your favorite? What was your first coffee tasting? They aren’t asking you to do this because they want to test your knowledge on a coffee. They want to hear you tell a story. Pick a coffee that speaks to you. Find a good pairing for it or bake something (if you can) I’ve store bought my favorite pastry to bring to a coffee tasting. That’s what it’s all about. Be prepared to talk about what you’re working on, where you’d like to grow

I agree but I offer the suggestion to possibly go bold with your food pairing, go to the store and walk down the isles and see if anything strange speaks out. Hot Cheetos? Jello? Lime ice cream? The goal of a coffee pairing is to bring out the flavors right? Coffee tasting is my least favorite part of any meeting, but eating a good snack that pairs with it always makes me happy with my burnt tongue
