Brewing Iced tea according to standard(self.starbucksbaristas)

When brewing a pitcher of iced tea do you put the tea bag in before or after the 1 liter of hot water? Does it matter and if so, why?

>**Double strength Iced Tea brewing procedures** > >1. Using tongs, place one iced tea filterbag into a clean 2-liter pitcher. > >2. Add 1 liter of hot water from the coffee brewer or instant hot water dispenser.

I'd still say that since it doesn't say, pour to the 1 liter line, you can add the 1 liter of hot water, and then add the bag.

I find that they float too much if you don’t put them in first and cover them with water!

It does say though. Step 1 is to place a tea bar into a clean pitcher. Step 2 says add 1 liter hot water. If they didn’t specify It would say “add 1 tea bag and 1 liter of water to 2L pitcher” and they wouldn’t have step 1, step 2

In order for tea to steep properly the water has to go over the leaves. You don’t do a water-first coffee pour over, do you?

What I thought and how I have always done it for over five years. Was called out today in front of my trainee for not putting hot water in before the tea bag because “it is not the Starbucks standard.”

They are so wrong. It’s Tea 101. Water is poured over the tea. How would it even work doing the water first?? Tell that person, from me, they are an idiot

I put bag then water, also add little more water so when I remove bag it’s exactly 1 lt of water. But that’s just me
