Question for my fellow shifts (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Grantiekins
Do y’all also have “a district standard” on where you have to run the floor from for peak? Or do y’all get some freedom. Just asking to reference what I’ve been going through at my store cause I feel like this is new

Hey I’m a SSV. Our store has heavily recommended I’m in a flexible position when I’m running the shift. Pretty busy peaks, and recently weve been running around short staffed, so I’m usually front warming just so I can flex over to wherever I’m needed. I hardly bar, usually if it’s later in the day to cover breaks.

I am on support for over half my shift if I'm opening. Shifts in our district rarely Bar. Our SM writes positions on the DTR for peak. -if- there is a reason to flex I might get by running peak on DTO but need a reason my SM would deem valid to do so.

My store is a three person peak at a low volume cafe.
That being said, my role as SSV is to come to bar (as one of the strongest bar members) and roll through drinks. I’ll usually throw my other bar support on cold because I’m strong at hot bar (can get drinks out quick if they’re not a million modifiers -.-) but over all, my role is CS Until otherwise needed. (I’ll usually also cover breaks in designated spots, like bar person if I’m doing drains, register is grinding CBIC or refilling RTDE, ect)
