Best coffee blend for cold brew? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Impossible-Ability17
I’ve been wanting to make cold brew at home but I’m not sure which blend would be the best for it. Any suggestions?

People say dark roasts make the best cold brews, and that tends to be true. The process leaves a lot of body so sweet coffees (like Verona, which is my favorite dark roast to cold brew) get really rounded out. However, my personally quirky preference is coffees with really citrusy or the like sweet-floral of East African origins. Casi Cielo/Guatemala is a staple, but I love a blonde espresso, or, when you can get it, try one of our Ethiopian coffees for a real treat

I really like the Odyssey blend for cold brew right now, but my overall favorite was the passport series Kenya medium roast it made the best cold brew

update: i really liked it. i added a tad of vanilla and some oat milk based on the ratios provided by the lil book it came with (i tried a sample of 2 oz of cold brew to like 4 oz of milk/water) it was really good actually

Currently, I use the Odyssey Blend for my cold brew. It is light, citrusy, and slightly sweet.

I use Siren’s blend. I like it better than the cold brew in store.

I follow the 2 tbsp to 6oz ratio for drip, but I add the grounds (french press) to a coffee filter, tie it off, and steep it in a mason jar. I do two batches (two 32 oz jars) of 1/2 cup of grounds in 24oz of water.
I leave it for 22 hours in the fridge and it’s *chef’s kiss* every time. In my experience, if it steeps any longer it gets very bitter.

I recently tried this (same ratios/time) in a proper french press, and oooh man was it smoky. Never again. Tea method gang.

Sumatra is the only one i find makes decent cold brew lol. I love Veranda as a hot coffee but for cold brew I thought it tasted so gross

Veranda is my favorite pour over coffee. So good.
