Woman comes in, never seen her before. She orders a tall pike & goes to pay with debit, she has card in the machine...
Customer: "will I be able to add a tip on the card?"
Me: "unfortunately no, but I've heard they're going to make advances to make tipping easier in the near future!"
C: "so I can't tip on the card?"
Me: "no, please don't worry, we're OK & happy to serve you regardless, but we STRONGLY appreciate your empathy & generosity!"
C: "no, it's really NOT okay. Tipping is the norm. You can't tell me it's okay not to tip, because that's wrong."
I really really didn't know how to continue this convo so i just had a big smile & said "here's your receipt" lol but she was NOT happy with starbies

I've had this happen once and even was like "got any life advice instead?" to keep that good ol cOnNecTioN and they said "yeah, get tipping available for debit." Okay, sassy pants, here's your Chai, have a day. 🤦♀️

This mentality kills me…..I’m upset that your employer isn’t treating you the way they should so I’m going to take it out on you because you represent the company in this single moment……I usually just give them the number for corporate and remind the customer that corporate will listen to them long before they listen to partners

Sadly people can’t be told “no” about anything without taking it as a personal insult. At Tarbucks I had to refuse tips multiple times because of cameras and our policy of not accepting tips at the time. People would get LIVID.

We are not allowed tips at my location. Customers very angry about it. Although I'm sure there are others who come to us because they don't have to tip.

I’m almost positive it’s because you’re hired by the grocery store not Starbucks. So if you got tipped you’d have to split them between all hourly workers at your grocery store

I work at a licensed store and we can’t even accept tips and yeah people get actually mad. It’s kinda cute but also…?
