How to keep cool? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by iiiimagery
Help! Our AC will barely ever go below 70 and it feels at least like 85 in our store 😭 they keep saying they'll fix it but it's been like this for a while now! I'm always put on window in 100 degree humid weather and I'm a bigger girl, so I feel like I'm gonna pass out 24/7 :( any tips? I'm BEGGING

bro lmk if you find our cus our thermo always reads at like 68, but out on the floor it sure doesnt feel like it. esp with our ovens in the drive thru nook, its a heat factory

When you're not using it, fill one of your 3 compartment sinks with ice and add cold water. Obviously make sure it's plugged so it doesn't just drain. Every once in a while take a break and plunge your arms up to the elbow and just chill for a few seconds.

If you can't use the sink, a spare sanitizer bucket could work as well or maybe even a coffee cube.

exaggerate on the work order ticket (say customers are complaining, etc.) and hopefully they’ll send someone good out to find out what’s wrong . worked for my store :) also def bring a fan for boh so ppl can cool off until it’s resolved

We've done that and they say they'll come out and don't:(

We had the same problem. Corporate supposedly does not want the room temp lower than 70. The ac guys checked the temp coming out of our vents and claimed everything was correct and there was nothing they could do. The only suggestion they gave was to put the shade down to keep the sun out.

But then I discovered something...

Our vents are thin long slits and I found out that the one above us was blowing away from us. I brought it up to the ac guy and his response was "yeah but the vent in the cafe is pointed toward you." I said "well... Now you have two vents blowing air against each other, let's fix that"

They adjusted the vent above us to actually blow in our direction and magically everything is much better.

On breaks or if you get a gap in between pll get a cup of ice water and place it on ur neck or back it cools you down the quickest. Also if you have a tendency to sweat more please stay hydrated like drink a little more water then you normal would!

our SM literally bought one of those $100 compact fans from home depot to put by the window/bar area. it's blue, pretty small, cant knock it over but everybody kicks it on accident all the time. i used the same one when i did construction, those things kick ass.

our store sits at a toasty 78-82 degrees in the summer

Time for your SM to email the head of Maintenance (I forget the title). If y’all are really desperate create another ticket stating the thermostat is reading 85. They will get there within 24hrs.
