Question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Eatingmyown_1563
Our manager makes employees get their own coverage for their shifts and then writes us up if we don’t get covered…

I was wondering if this was the same everywhere because I really love this job but I’ve been written up twice now…

I got a concussion at work and was supposed to be off work for two weeks…came back a week early just to get written up

Then I legitimately almost died via elevated liver enzymes and I called and told my manager what was going on but I know she’s going to write me up when I go back to work…

Just curious if I should go to corporate or not?

Go to corporate. It’s illegal to retaliate against you for excuses medical issues.

Wait did you partner with Sedgwick? You should be on workers comp for this? They cannot write you up for that?? Also you shouldn’t have come back a week earlier!! Take care of your self. Concussions can effected you big time and for a long time!! Just bring in a doctors note and they need to partner with you to get everything excused.

SM are responsible to find coverage. it is part of their job! a call to ethics and compliance is in order.

Anything more then three days is a leave of absence. You can’t call in sick for more then that. It should be the manager who just force puts you on a leave, but if they don’t you can contact Sedgwick yourself to do it.

If you don’t do a loa then you can still get written up for irregular attendance even if some of it is sick call outs.
