What should I do? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Chance-Sentence-810
So I’ve been working about Starbucks for about 3 weeks now. I’m “done” with my training and I’m moving to my home store starting this Monday. Every time I go in they stick me at the POS all day so I have no idea how to make any drinks. It even says on the board that I need time on the bar but I have yet to be on there.

At starbucks it’s gonna take about 6 months to be able to master at everything. Before you’re put on bar, most green beans are always put at front register, cs, or dtr/dto to get used to putting orders in before they get put on bar to practice crafting beverages. Don’t stress about it, it’s normal for someone who’s new especially for someone who’s only working for 3 weeks. You’ll get there. If it’s something you’re eager to learn, talk to your shift supervisor.

seconding the other comment: definitely normal, and also definitely recommend bringing it up with the playcaller.

also, i know it’s not the same as hands-on bar practice, but POS time can double as recipe study time, since the POS system shows the recipe for each drink you ring up; you can also keep the beverage recipe cards/iPad nearby to look through them.

fwiw, right now my store has a lot of green beans *and* is often understaffed - so while the SSVs want and do attempt to give them bar practice, sometimes it’s just not really possible. (eg, if you have a 2- or 3-partner play during the afterschool rush, or if the whole morning has been busy, it’s not ideal to put the green bean on bar)
