due to staffing, i lost 2 people 15 mins before my peak ended and i gained one person. that’s no biggie. however i dropped to 5 people running my drive thru store with a cafe full of people with 2 of those being minors. i haven’t sat down or had my breaks since 5:30 this morning, it is now 1:50 and i’m 20 mins over my shift because i had to catch up slightly on tasks even tho i still left a lot of tasks unfinished. my whole body is sore and i feel like this job sometimes isn’t worth it.

update: my S/O was the next shift on but i did have a breakdown so we love

you need to take your break, idc if it’s busy you need to take one. I know it’s hard leaving ur coworkers but you need to sit down for a second. Not your fault they understaffed you. Talk to ur manager and tell her you need an extra person on saturdays. I know it sucks trust me but been there but they will be okay for 5 minutes if you need a second

Yeah trust me corporate is gonna be down your throat if you don’t take breaks. I’ve tried leaving my breaks early for the good of the store but got a stern talking to from my dm that that can’t happen

It really isn’t worth it, use the iPad in your store and deploy people based on the play builder guidance. Then, take your damn break! If someone complains, say this is the Starbucks standard 😎

Remember: Starbucks will make money if you’re there or not, so don’t overwork yourself.

hey guys! so unfortunately the reason i couldn’t take nah of my breaks was the fact i had nobody able to cover my position. i only had enough play partners (myself included) to cover my main positions: Bar 1, Bar 2, Dto solo, CS/POS, warming and i was warming

You deserve to take your breaks no matter the circumstances! :( I usually drop to a front/warming, or solo bar with front/CS flexing in to support bar for the duration of the break depending on the needs of the business. I’m sorry that you had such a tough day, but just remember we’re all doing our best with the time we are scheduled; sometimes it’s crazy and it just is what it is. With the exception of making sure everything is well stocked before stepping off the floor, I would always prioritize breaks over tasks.

I know this isn’t what should be said but turn stuff off on your mobile orders when you take your break. Don’t do it every time you work but there is always going to be that one shift from he🏒🏒 where everyone needs to breathe. Turn off something like coffee base so you cut down on the amount of frapps you make or turn off speciality coffee like dark or blonde so you only brew one thing and just have your drive thru say it’s unavailable. It’s only 30min out of the entire day it will be okay. I use to never take my breaks because of this but truly 30min makes no difference in the overall profit and operations of a store despite what sm and dm say. You can also try swapping the time you take your 15 and 30, that way during peaks it’s shorter breaks
