Does anyone else find it so annoying customers adding items at the drive-thru window when it’s busy and the queue is high? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’m over a year barista working at a drive-thru store. When they assign me to DTO/DTR, I get few customers adding items such as Frappuccinos, sandwiches, or anything that takes time to make during rush hours when there’s a long line at the drive-thru, multiple drinks to make for one order and we have to be under 1 minute at the window plus not having any red numbers. If they ask for cup of water, then I wouldn’t mind because we all need water to survive, we never know if they’re sick or they’re fainting so we should kindly provide them free water immediately whenever they ask, as well as condiments like salt and sugar especially those that are fainting.

I feel bad some people that have small easy orders complain why they had to wait long at the drive-thru. I cannot limit how much a customer can order since we need sales to maintain the business.

Yeah, also it's not as bad as ordering food or whatever but people who always order waters at window are annoying. I can't help but wonder with some of them if they think they're getting one over on us, like that we charge for water but won't bother if they do it at window. One girl does this daily despite being told several times she can ask for it at the box; we probably encourage that behavior by going ahead and making the water when we know it's her.

I dont mind accepting an uncomplicated order at the window especially if its something I can grab quickly like a drip /iced coffee or a cake pop.

However it grates on my patience when they ask and then proceed to order 3 $10 drinks with 5 modifications each we rush it because the customer is at the window even though there are people waiting in line.

When this happens again I'll take the order and payment but insist they pick it up inside.. It just holds up t he line and ruins our DTO time score.

Plus these customers though appreciative generally do not tip so...
