we don't lol 😂
BrightAngelBarista [OP] 10 points 10m ago
🤎 Do you not have time? Or just don’t care to?
mypoopoosmelly69 58 points 10m ago
we never have any time….
Mea-fae_Owl73 18 points 10m ago
Same! Only at sit downs at meetings do we have time. Or we do a tasting with a fresh brew or espresso drink.
Necessary_Low939 3 points 10m ago
Only if u asked to do it, some will honor it.

My store doesn't really do coffee tastings. But I'm doing the coffee master program so I want start hosting it at my store. I just need to figure out how to do it lol

Time constraints and enough people are a very. Real. Concern. 🤎 Go for it! I want to earn the Black Apron, too.
Urmomscoochiehairs 15 points 10m ago
Lol we just get whatever is brewed that day
BrightAngelBarista [OP] 10 points 10m ago
So disposable shot cups? Reusable ceramics?
Tray? Food pairing? Napkins? Try to promote bags for sale or simply promote brews in store?
French press or straight from the urn?
Urmomscoochiehairs 9 points 10m ago
We use pumpkin loaf and our dark roast from the urn in tall or short cups

Since I work for a licensed store, our kiosk also has to follow the grocery store’s rules for sampling. So when we have the staffing and time to sample, we’ll assign a barista and they’ll decide what drink and what food item to pair it with, then they’ll put them on a sampling tray and walk around the store. Today, we did a Casi Cielo iced pour over with samples of the lemon pound cake and lemme tell you it was a whole Ratatouille-Remy-discovering-cheese-and-strawberries moment LMAO

Where did those double walled cups come from, op? I like em
BrightAngelBarista [OP] 3 points 10m ago
The hubbers got them for me from Williams Sonoma a few years ago.

when I first got hired my manager did a coffee tasting for myself and another new hire. we had black pike’s place in tall cups and a warm chocolate chip cookie. it was pretty good.

For sit down meetings we pick one person in advance of the meeting to decide on a coffee/brew method/food and serve it in short cups bc we don’t have for here ware at our store. If I’m not completely overwhelmed I’ll make stuff and put it out for ppl to grab when they get a sec in their shift bc I’m tryna do coffee master and I have to taste all the things in all the methods. I’m a nerd so one time I brought my aeropress from home, sanitized it in store, and made a tasting of Guatemala Antigua & that was a big hit.

I’d love to get for-here cups tbh bc using all those short cups seems wasteful. Maybe I’ll ask my SM if I can add them to our Nashville order.
smoolbeean 3 points 10m ago
i like to do pour overs with my trainees.
soundfanatic 3 points 10m ago
i don't 🖤 our coffee is shit 😌

(also we're way too busy and have zero time. slow cafe stores are in a different universe tbh.)
Necessary_Low939 2 points 10m ago
When I did coffee tasting with a supervisor , he’d pick a dark roast off the shelf, get the French press to brew, and grab a pastry that compliments the coffee notes etc. First we taste the coffee by itself and describe. Then he say to take a bite of the pastry then let the coffee flow in to Describe.
thechamelioncircuit 2 points 10m ago
Reluctantly 😅
uwumoment 1 points 10m ago
we always use the reserve roasts bc we bougie. the only roasts at sbux i’ve had that tastes good were reserve.
imathrowayslc 1 points 10m ago
Not with Italian! That's how.

Also we have a clover so I know that's cheating, but I do a tasting every time we get new beans. We get the reserve beans for the clover too so <3.

when theres some slower time ive been trying to do more! ask around and see whos interested, do a large pour over and split between and then slice the pairing to go with it (usually all in sample cups or tall cups if we dont have em). then ill go through and ask everyone for their input on each factor, finishing off with the input with the pairing

We brew whatever we want (pour over or already brewed) then put the coffee in short cups, my store has cupcake/muffin holders for the food or you can use napkins and put everything on a round tray!
vietlazed 1 points 10m ago
Sm have a print out for coffee tasting or you can search it in partner hub
