I love when I’m told by my barista “I’m going to be the customer support” and you try to just grin and bare it only to witness them stand around and talk instead of doing what is needed (like restock, trash, or cold brew) for multiple times, up to 30 mins each time they do it…Then critique when you cut blonde roast at 12:45 when it’s not been ordered since noonish.) -.- I miss the old days of the BUX…I miss people understanding and knowing the routines of it all.

I can’t, but I also don’t stand around chitchatting at the same time. I think my lacking ability is from my time as an ER tech and if you got to distracted from talking you could easily hit an artery instead of a vein (happened a time or two) so I stopped talking while doing my work.

Plus; I was the shift on duty and them just flat out saying “I’m customer support” rubbed me the wrong way (because I have tasks that I need to do and cannot do if I’m on a register or doing bar) and this partner CANNOT do bar because they have a massive freak out.

If they throw a fit, I'd send them home. Honestly sounds like them being there makes no difference if they aren't actually working.

I am the barista who is a seasoned closer . So I don’t play when I’m on CS . I get everything done , simple . Talking is fine but I honestly can’t stand when my shift puts someone unreliable on CS . I tend to ask to do CS or even when my shift ask to do it I say no (because it deters their shift things like food pull) and offer to do it . I can’t stand having to be what we call at our store “bar / cs” it’s so overwhelming.

I’m a closer and I can’t stand when they “who closed its looks horrid”like closing shift isn’t understaffed , they literally say anything when we spend and hour and a half after the store to clean the store and prep . I hate it here 😭

I think this can vary by stores though. Like our store doesn’t go to pour over until around noon because we have people ordering dark, blonde, or decaf a lot up until at least then

Ah the good old days when people actually come to their 8 hour shifts and don’t complain about being tired. They also work to.

Why is this being down voted? If work ethic was still a thing we wouldn’t even need a designated CS. Back in the day we used to all pick up the slack- restock, support, whatever was needed it was done.

Psh lobby and bathroom checks aren’t even a thing anymore, they’re just closing tasks. It used to be “hey please bus the lobby and go on your 10.” Or “hey check the restrooms and take your 10.”
