This may be kind of a weird question, but I wrote a song that I’m planning on including on my next Spotify release. The lyrics are simply, “What size?” It’s obviously inspired by my work 🫠 I was wondering if anyone knew if I’d be in any kind of trouble for this? It isn’t technically social media…

If you mention Starbucks or if your Spotify account links you to Starbucks in any way I’d suggest not doing it, otherwise it sounds like it would be fine? Toeing the edge of a gray area I’d say

There is no mention of Starbucks. I also don’t list anywhere on my social media that I work for Starbucks. It is kind of a gray area, huh? I am concerned about it especially being a union leader- I know they want any reason they can find to terminate me.

Especially with the union context I’d probably hold off on the release, or maybe talk with your union reps and have them assess if you’d be breaking any social media policy.

But if there’s no reference to starbucks, no trademarked/Starbucks specific terms, and it could be generalized to any sort of coffee shop, I think it would be fine
