Headsets & hearing impaired partner (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Terry_Jean
I can’t wear my hearing aid under our headsets and they don’t turn up loud enough for me to hear. Is anyone aware of what accommodation can be made for me? Maybe a different type of headset? My SM is not being very helpful. Should I call PCC and ask them? Any help would be appreciated.

They absolutely should be making accomadations for you. I would call PCC, who will get you hooked up to disabilities, and let them know whats happening, because it is their job to make sure you can come to work in an environment that works for you.

Starbucks has many stores where people who are either deaf or hard of hearing work, but I would let them know you have no problem carrying out the other duties of your job, that way you're not in danger of being fired. Worst comes to worst you might be transferred to a cafe only store, but it shouldn't be an issue.

P.S if you do get fired for being hard of hearing, lawyer up asap and you'll own the company.

HoH partner here! My inbox is open if you’d like to chat, I’ve gone through accommodations for stuff relating to my disability and wearing hearing aids at work.

My store had a hard of hearing partner and my SM had a special headset ordered for them.

It’s an accommodation request. There is special noise canceling headset that can be ordered. Your sm should be able to help you though. There is like a one page thing that has that on it, and the I sign aprons, and the face me buttons and like general hard of hearing/deaf accommodation stuff.

Request an accommodation in writing.

You must get an accommodation. You must call PRC and fill out the paperwork. You will need doctor information.
