Free drink policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Unfair-Talk176
Sometimes my significant other drives me go work, and we will go a couple minutes early to get my free drink before my shift. If he takes me, usually order what he wants and depending on the day, it sometimes isn’t ready by the time I have to clock on. He will just grab it and go when that happens.

One of my shifts told me I’m not allowed to do this. Others don’t mind, and think it’s cute. But I don’t see why not? Like it’s my drink and I’m getting it within the 30 minutes prior to my shift. In my mind, there’s no difference between this and getting my drink at the end of my shift to bring home for my significant other.

I’m really unsure about this. What do y’all think?

It's literally because as dumb as this is, the benefit is *yours* not his. You could grab it and walk out and give it to him and it would be fine. It's a dumb technicality in my opinion

Technically the free drinks are just for you. You’re not supposed to be giving them to another person. However, if you were at my store I wouldn’t give a shit. But if your ssv/sm tells you it’s not allowed they are correct.

If you grab it and hand it to him they shouldn’t be able to say anything but the policy from how it’s explained to me is you have to be the one to order it and collect it (although I wouldn’t really ever care if someone did what you do)

You’re not allowed to get free drinks for other people, only yourself. Maybe instead ask if he can get it on your discount?

And I mean if you bring the drink home they might know what you’re doing but they’re not going to say anything bc they can’t prove anything. That’s why it’s easier to get away with it

if you want to get technical, you're not allowed to make his drink free. But my Manager has always said "Sometimes you change your mind on the drink. No sense throwing it away." As a hint hint nudge nudge that you can give your drink to an S/O instead of throwing it out

I mean technically the drink just for you- but it's a rule I've never enforced and hasn't been enforced on to me
