Anyone else feel like your schedule is labeled randomly? (self.starbucksbaristas)

When I look at my schedule, it seems like my manager just randomly chooses a label. I had a 7.5 hour labeled as training, but didn't do any training just my usual barista business. Then the next day it was Training, Coverage, NonCoverage which would've made sense if it was a clean play shift, but this was a normal 4 am opening shift on a Thursday. I asked my shift that morning if there was any notes about training but she said there was nothing about it (This incident was back in July so it wasn't time for the Apple Crisp training). And just last week I had a shift labeled NonCoverage but it was just a 10:30-3 and I cold bar'd the whole shift.

yup! i get that too. so the reasoning behind it is there’s a certain labor budget for coverage(on the floor ex bar register dto), non coverage(off the floor ex unpacking orders off the floor placing orders on the computer in the back, and training. Managers will tap into the labor hours for training and non coverage as a loophole to have enough hours for coverage in the budget. It’s just a way to maximize all the hours a store gets for labor. Don’t worry though, just because it’s labeled as training or non coverage doenst mean you will be off the floor. Chances are those labels will never mean anything to you unless the manager explicitly told you ahead of time your shift is non coverage.
