when it comes to washing dishes, and i mean all dishes, do we have to go through the by hand process completely before we put it in the dishwasher (wash, rinse, sanitize, dishwasher)? or can the dishes just be rinsed and put in the dishwasher (rinse, dishwasher)?

just make sure you rinse off all the 3d debris like coffee grounds and fruit pieces and stuff. and make sure ur dishwasher actually has dishwashing solution that goes into it

Some things need to be hand washed like the blender covers and (this one isnt confirmed i was just told this by a seasoned partner and i trust her) the pitcher rinsers. Also with the new cold brew makers we’ve found that the dishwasher can warp the lids.

Although the biggest concern is the 3D debris, as u/Torirock10 said, there are other considerations for hand washing.
If you don't change the sani trays frequently enough, they will develop a thick film around the inside that dishwashers just will not get off. Specifically if they were just thrown in the back and not rinsed out, either.
Tea and coffee pitchers should be hand washed at least semi-regularly to remove/prevent staining. Magic erasers are great for getting stains off, but the longer they stay stained, the more you'll have to scrub.
Basically, use your best judgement. If something goes in the dishwasher and comes out still looking dirty, you'lp know for the future it needs to be handwashed first.

Don’t use magic erasers please! It creates microabrasions in the plastic and can make stains worse in the future, while also creating spaces for bacteria to grow

Oh really??? I was always told to use them specifically for stain removals, even from our plastic pitchers.
Can you share any stain removal tips I can use in place of these?

Technically nothing is “Starbucks approved” other than dish soap and blue scrubbers
If you really need something stronger, restroom cleaner *is* safe for food contact surfaces as long as it’s rinsed well before use again (Read the bottle and it’ll tell you). So occasionally, I’ll use that. I always make sure to rinse, use soap, rinse, and run the dish through Hobart if I use the cleaner on it.

Thanks!

My process for dishes
-Rinse everything thoroughly
-wash in clean soapy water. Actually apply some preassure otherewise 90% of dishes will still have stains on them. RIP pinneapple passionfruit containers.
-Rinse off suds
-Put in either sani water or Hobart
*NOTE* Carmel bottles do not go in the hobart it will cause the seals to fail and the bottles to leak. The metal stands for syrup pumps do not go into the Hobart the heat will cause the paint to chip. The blender covers (at least the bottom half) will seperate after repeated runs in the Hobart. The black cushion for the blender covers will break if run through the Hobart (literally anything that says handwash only needs to stay out of the Hobart). Any plexi-cubes will weaken and increase the chance of breaking when put in the Hobart. The new cold brew lids will also warp when used in the Hobart. Bean Hoppers for the espresso machines DO NOT go in the Hobart. The heat will make it more likely for small inner pieces to break.
-Source: started at a store that used the Hobart for everything then transferred to a store that did it right...

Omg what? How can I find a source about not putting caramel bottles in Hobart? ALL of ours always get leaky
A_Will_Ferrell_Cat3 points10m ago
I honestly never looked for it... I could try to find it next time I work. Like I said my first store put EVERYTHING in that damn thing. When I transferred an employee caught me doing it and explained how it causes them to leak and sure enough my current store does not have that problem to the same degree as my last store. Though everytime we get a transfer we catch them doing it and have to explain it to them. Doesn't seem like common knowledge.
dahmerpalms2 points10m ago
Our store is pretty by-the-book, so I’m definitely surprised to hear it. Must not be common knowledge at all. I’ll have to search it up on the hub or something!
Candid_Accident_1 points10m ago
My store also does not Hobart caramel bottles for the same reason.
dazedandconfusedhere1 points10m ago
Caramel bottles can go into Hobart per the SCEMM for them. Our store Hobarts them all the time and has no issues with leaky bottles
A_Will_Ferrell_Cat1 points10m ago
Idk... that's what I was told. I will try and look it up. It could be part of the carmel bottles are okay in the hobart and some are not. I will note that we will order new carnel bottles and they will work great... until someone puts them in the Hobart but that is purely anecdotal.
dazedandconfusedhere2 points10m ago
A lot of people say they can’t but as long as you’re not jamming them in, they should be totally fine. On the iPads in store resources you can find the SCEMM for them and it says to Hobart them
