“assume the best” (self.starbucksbaristas)

assuming the best in customers that are repeat offenders of misusing our bathrooms is causing our store to not be safe for our customers AND my coworkers. we can not and should not be having open bathrooms if it’s hazardous every single day just to clean them. this is getting out of hand. this is unsafe. i am not trained and no one else in our store is trained to help people or clean this up. bleach and gloves are not enough. we are exposed to hard drugs everyday. i wish we had better help for our patrons that have addictions. but we DONT.
we are yelled at and insulted by customers everyday. we had a meeting and apparently we still have to assume the best in our customers. it’s getting increasingly hard to do that when the situation is just getting worse. i don’t want to find another person overdosing.

Totally agree, OP.

Sir Howard Shultz wouldn't touch our bathrooms with a 39.5 foot pole.

They're breeding grounds for bacteria and drug use. In most states, Biohazard specialists are supposed to come in and deal with accidents... but in rushes and in times of ignorance/disregard from managers and supervisors, they're nowhere to be found.

My store for the past 6 weeks installed a lockpad now on the bathroom since it was getting so bad. It really did stop most of the customers from trashing our bathrooms

What state or city is this? In my city, one of the Starbucks has an issue with this too

this does go so much deeper than just starbucks but it’s so frustrating. i wish i could do more to help our customers but it feels like the company and the world are against us.
