Sorry, this is the oddest question. Pre pandemic, I would order a grande coffee in a venti cup, then add my own cream. Perfect system.
Now, every time I ask for cream I get wildly different amounts each time even though I always ask for ‘extra’. I usually have to ask them to add more (90% of the time). Is there a size I can ask for that it more than extra?
I don’t have this problem at McDonald’s/Tim Hortons for example. 3 creams is the perfect amount.
I’m guessing they will soon go back to just letting me do it myself, but thought I’d ask.

Standard is that now “extra” cream is 3/4 of an inch of cream. “With cream” is 1/2inch “light” is 1/4 inch. I don’t foresee the café carafes coming back anytime soon unfortunately.

Is that an eye measurement? It never seems to be consistent.
Not really a complaint. This didn’t use to be part of the job and it’s not that big a deal.

It is an eye measurement for hot coffee. (we have lines on the cold cups). I recommend asking for a short cup of cream. 4 oz or less no charge.

Thanks! I’ll do that.

Sorry. We eyeball it :( ask for cream on the side 😊

We are not going to be putting the carafes (cream) out for customers to pour for themselves anymore (at least in my area I’m in California and seeing you said Tom hortons I’m assuming your not). The reason was it “was more customer interactions!” But really I think it’s cuz it wasted so much cream having that out and having to change it so often to stay in health code compliance. And we eye ball the amount. Different Baristas have different ideas of what a lot of cream is, and customers also think differently about it. We usually try to low ball it as we can always add more but having to remake it takes up your time and our resources.
You can always ask for room and cream on the side

Part of it may be if you used to fill up the venti cup to the top with cream (with your grande coffee) that the baristas may be wary about doing that. Technically that would be a venti coffee at that point so the baristas may be trying their best to ensure it's still a grande coffee in a venti cup (which implies room.)
Your best option is asking for it on the side!

It doesn’t matter how much room I asked for in a grande cup, it was too little room.

Yea corporate realized they can hoard a bunch more money without letting customers add their own cream so that’s not coming back

if you're ordering via cafe, and its too light, i would just ask if you get a bit more cream ig? people do it all the time and it never bothers me to just splash a lil more cream into someones coffee lol

True, but it gets a bit annoying doing it every single time when McDonald’s does it right every time. Not very annoying but enough to not do Starbucks drive thru for example.
Dependent-Panic77091 points10m ago
McDonald’s has a machine that you push for 1,2,3 shots of cream, at Starbucks we just pour it straight from the jug so when you say “3 creams” to us it’s not going to be the same

Yea, I get that. It’s not the people who work there’s fault. It’s just a much easier experience at McDonald’s.
