tips for milk pouring? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by g_pvp_3
just wanna know how to get that glossy micro foam/no foam latte every single time. I do admit sometimes I rush without realizing, but I do my best to craft every drink to its highest standard and do it the best i can. Hot bar is not my strong suit.

aerate the milk for about 5 seconds, make sure it’s not too far in the milk and not too far out of the milk, It should sound like paper ripping and there shouldn’t be any sputtering. then when you’re done aerating you want to make sure the steam wand is placed in the middle of the pitcher so it makes a kind of whirlpool. when it’s done steaming, tap the pitcher on the counter to pop any bubbles and then swirl it around til it gets glossy. pour the milk into a slightly tilted cup, letting it hit the side of the cup and run into the espresso. that’s pretty much the best we can do with shitty starbucks equipment.

I do pretty much all of that, but the difference is I never stop to think and pour the milk on the side. even the shots so there’s not as many bubbles. thanks for that!! my shift starts in 2 hours, i’ll try to take pics if I did better.

I tend to NOT do that. Especially when on cold bar. that’s my strong suit. one specific shift i work with always puts me on cold bar first, and then usually drive bar. I can pull out shaken cold drinks like they come straight from my ass. also tend to be shaky sometimes when stressed or rushing, so i will try to use my new techniques I’ve learned today. I did alright today, and i made a few good drinks pouring the milk on the side :) not latte art worthy tho.

Pour fast and far at the start then slow and close to finish it off
