Is there a point when leading a coffee tasting stops feeling a bit silly? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve trained 2 new partners now, and I’ve done coffee tastings with both of them. And both times it’s felt weird asking a stranger to slurp coffee with you in a busy lobby and describe it.

Will it always feel silly asking someone to do these things, or do you get used to it?

Nope and yes

Bring a coffee flavor wheel and a flavor thesaurus to make it so silly that it comes around to being extremely serious and customers will stare in awe

I haven’t led a tasting yet, but I figure I’ll tell them it’s similar to wine tasting. It’s sophisticated, right? (((Giggles)))

It’s always awkward, haha. I just acknowledge it’s an awkward/silly moment with them.
