I have a couple rehire questions!!(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lilkiosk
I worked at Starbucks for a couple years and then quit a couple months ago. Long story short, you can’t keep me away from the siren. And I’m starting back again in a couple weeks. First question is if I left a couple months ago but I want to finally change my last name which I didn’t do the entire last year I worked with Starbucks because I was lazy, will that make me lose my numbers if I am a rehire and use a different last name (obviously all of my other identifying stuff is the same and it’s the same store). I can’t bear to think of having different numbers. Second question is since I only quit a couple months ago and was a trainer when I left, how much training do I have to do. I don’t think they’re going to bar train me since I know all of the drinks still. Technically, I guess, I don’t know the new refresher, but it’s a refresher so I do. But will I have to do all of barista basics again? Obviously, I’ve never been a rehire before lol. Thanks friends! Happy to be back!!!!

Your numbers always stay the same, even if you change your name. You’ll have to do any new seasonal training or new trainings that have come up in my learning since you left but you won’t need to redo your barista training. The only downside is your time starts over. So if you were with Starbucks for 2 years previously that time doesn’t count towards raises, etc. same with vacation time, you’ll have to be there an entire year before you start accruing your vacation again. Speaking from experience 😊

Hmm good question. My supervisor now had quit and ended up getting rehired a few months later and she had the same partner numbers. I’m not sure how changing the last name works but you should be able to keep your partner numbers changing your last name. It might be a different story if you quit a few years ago though! She didn’t really get just training getting rehired she remember pretty much everything but she just went over any new training she missed out on. The pineapple refresher is literally the same as any refresher!

According to some random line from the employee handbook, your number stays the same and you get back your previous accrued sick time as long as you are re-hired before the 6-month mark. As for the name change, you said you start in a couple weeks, so I’m assuming you’ve already gone through at least some/finished the hiring process that requires your name? In that case, I’d just reach out to the SM to ask how to change your name with the company (for legal purposes, not preferred names).
